Crashing / steam_game_ship.exe
I hope i am not the only one. I dont know what to do anymore. I did everything. Drivers, Verification, Clean install etc. My game still crashes with "steam_game_ship.exe" it happened when i was playing campaign but only few times. I just cant play multiplayer it happens every 10 minutes. Every time this happens my game automatically verifies files and resets my in game settings... I saw some people saying they got banned for game file manipulation once this happened few times for them... And i really dont want to get banned for no reason... If somebody has a fix wich worked for them i will gladly try your suggestion. Thanks all.

Just disabled my overlay and it says 33 files failed to validate too. This may be the fix.......

Since launch, my game would crash mid game, EVERY game without fail.
I'd either get the Error Code message or my PC would do a hard re-boot.
Looked for ages at fixes and nothing worked.

Had a Tech Guy come in 2 days ago as my last resort, as I was majorly pissed off and wanted to find out what was causing it.
He scanned whole system, no corrupted drives, GPU running perfect, no overheating etc., so ruled out it being Hardware issue.

He updated my BIOS (outside of my skill to do myself) and re-installed Windows.
Still getting the 33 files failed to verify, but seems everyone is getting it, even when game runs fine, so just ignore that.
Today I had chance to jump online and I've actually been able to play all night without a single crash!

So here are potential fixes of all the things I've done, if anyone wants to try them:

Update BIOS

Dropped FPS to match my Monitor refresh rate in game instead of set at 250 FPS

Rolled Nvidia driver back to 522.25

Uninstalled Steam and MWII and deleted all folders from PC. Then re-installed Steam and re-installed MWII.

Disable Discord and Steam Overlays

Turn off Parallax Effects in game

Turned FOV down from 120 to 110

Reinstalled Windows

Uninstalled Bitdefender (my Anti-Virus software)

Windows Firewall is still installed and On

Hope this helps someone!

The 33 files that failed to get validated, will always fail to validate if you've started the game since reaquireing the files.

I share my experience of solving this problem. Cod mw2 multiplayer didn't work for a friend and I helped him deal with the problem steam_game_ship.exe . Everything worked for me, but after I logged in from his steam account and logged into the game, I also had this problem. As a result, I completely deleted the game and steam. I cleaned the game files in the Documents folder. I cleaned the computer with the ccleaner program (the registry and just every suggested computer cleaning). After re-downloaded steam and cod mw2, but downloaded exclusively everything except the wz 2.0 (on the game page in the library, you can disable the varzone as dls). After that, I went into the game and everything worked. I also disabled the nvidia overlay, but I'm not sure if it helps or not. As a result, I went through a lot of options and I can come to the conclusion that one of the most effective ways is to clean the computer as much as possible from any data of any recent parts of cod and try to take an image of the game from the one from whom it works and install it without downloading. If there are any questions about this, write, I will try to answer. But in theory, if you put steam, drivers, and the game completely on a clean system, then everything should work normally. Another assumption: this error occurs in those who first played varzone and then bought a cod mw2. Because none of my friends who bought the game and then played wz 2.0 had any problems. Sorry for my bad English )

Thank you very much! Its sad... We should not have to wipe our PCs just to play this damn game... I play sometimes after work i think i will rather try to refund than to deal with it.

With overlays off (discord/steam) i get to play longer, but still ends up with this freeze up then this error. :medkit:

In the middle of December, there will be free access to the network mode. I think that's when the fix will come out, when this problem becomes so large-scale that it will be impossible to ignore it.
