HOW I FIXED THE FILES MISSING/GAME NOT LAUNCHING ERROR DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK PAY ATTENTION

this is what i did, it was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ obnoxious
THIS REQUIRES YOU TO RESET WINDOWS! IM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING BAD THAT HAPPENS OR ANY FILES/APPS LOST! DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!

1) shut off computer and unplug all drives except for your C drive

2) boot up pc and go to settings>system>recovery>reset this pc and when the blue window opens click "Keep my files"

3)allow windows to reset itself and when its done install steam and basic/necessary programs (i just installed chrome, discord, and steam)

4) once everything is installed shut down your pc and plug your drives back in

5) with the drives plugged in log into steam and starting from the top left corner click Steam>Settings>Downloads>Steam Library Folders

6) once the storage manager is opened up click the "+" icon and add the folders where your games are installed

7) MWII should now show up as installed and if not I assume that you have to reinstall it

8) Launch the game and it should work and you should also have your campaign save files with all the rewards if you had early access

I want to reiterate this:

you wont me wiping the pc completely, youd just uninstall all your apps, you will not lose any files if you pay attention

i mainly went through all that hell just because i preordered the vault edition and i spent 12+ just trying to get the game to launch, i was getting really desperate at that point

i dont blame you though, it was really annoying having to wait around, my friend was able to load the game up just fine along with my laptop

bro these "fixes" u made are just foolish and really unnecessary.

To save everyone some time I already tried reinstalling windows it did not fix the issue for me.

The issue is that people who played/installed beta got files on their computer that allows them to play mw 2, Its legimetly glitch in their system same issue is on battlenet.

I stopped at reset windows 10 LOL, what a JOKE cant believe anyone actually did it for one game that simply just doesnt work.

I never had the beta and bought/downloaded it today, but I'm having the same problems.

some methods have worked for others and this may not work for everyone, this was the only one that worked for me
