What I did and what seems to have solved the issue was open the game, then open the folder containing all of the configs with settings for the game (should be in User > Documents > Call of Duty > players), changed EVERY SINGLE SETTING AND KEY-BIND to what I wanted them to be, saved those settings, then went into the properties of every single config file in that folder and turned "Read-only" on. It is annoying since there is like 6 or 7 of those config files, and you won't be able to change the settings in the future unless you turn "Red-only" off, but it seems to have worked for me. Or maybe the devs just fixed this bug and it was simply corellation
Basically the game loses focus while it's initially loading and if it's not corrected some of your settings revert. When you start clicking that black background it pulls it back into focus before your graphics settings are initiated, this is why you do it as soon as it pops up.
This has been a bug on the last several CoD titles.
I'll try doing that but this just seems so unpolished. I could fix this problem with BF 2042 and COD: MW 2019 by simply setting the config to "Read-only", but it doesn't work for this game for some reason
Even if this is the case....we shouldn't have to do that lol....needs fixing immediately I'd say.
I agree, but unfortunately this is probably due to the fact that most AAA games are made for consoles first and then ported to PC. Every single game on Frostbite engine launches in a small window roughly 1/6 of the actual size and resolution of my monitor, and then it takes a good couple seconds for the game to "convert" to fullscrean after I click on that window.
Doesn't justify the fact that this is happening because it's not that hard to save my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ settings, but this could be a reason why. Consoles simply don't have those issues and it is an oversight that companies just won't fix for some reason
