The "always online" DRM for 2019's modern warfare was absolute horse crap. In the first weeks after the release it was impossible to even finish the campaign - one tiny glitch in the connection to the servers and the game would boot you to the main menu losing all progress.
Not to mention that playing against bots required a constant connection on PC while on console it worked just fine offline.
Just a few years back the bot modes were working just fine without an internet connection IF NEEDED.
I understand the multiplayer not working without a connection, I understand that they don't want to add LAN, but locking people out of the game because of server or connection issues is unacceptable.
Why not ? The first CoD to be infested with "always online" BS was Black Ops 4 and since then every release that was on BNET.
Most of the CoD releases on Steam worked offline.
"Always online" is nothing but garbage.
More like on the bleeding edge of anti-consumerism.
Look at the Overwatch 2 launch crap fest - always online garbage at its finest.
