Ruler of all Egypt, claims to be the avatar of a god, and only gets two ladies?
Life just ain't fair like that sometimes.
Rule of all Egypt, claims to be the avatar of a god, and only gets two metaphoric ladies.
Life just ain't fair like that sometimes.
As Yews said, the ladies are probably the patron goddesses of of Upper Egypt (Nekhbet) and Lower Egypt (Wadjet).
But don't worry for the pharaohs: they had plenty of real queens, wives and concubines. Amenophis III for instance had been married to the daughters of two kings of Babylonia, two kings of Mitanni and a king of Arzawa, and probably many more Egyptian and Canaanite women.
