My Biggest Problem with the Game
I can deal with the sparse campaign map and lackluster battles. What keeps me from really enjoying this game is that I don't have any connection with the faction I'm playing. I don't know who any of these people are and there is no unique narrative with any of them. When playing Rome 2, I have at least a vague idea of what most of the factions are about and understand their differences to others and their place in the world and this helps me build a narrative in my head and helps drive my motivation to beat the campaign.

With Pharaoh, I really couldn't care less whether the person I'm playing as becomes Pharaoh or not. It's just hard to get excited about any of these characters and I think it was a big blunder by CA to invest so much effort into a period that isn't that well known.

The lack of a family tree for me kills it. To me that's a staple in a historical title. Having an empire gorwn, and a family tree i become attached to. Not some godlike figure, which is cool, but not for what was supposed to be a historical title.

I honestly like Pharaoh for a bit, but the fact that i still can't see any of the text on my steamdeck is frustrating

Several things in this quote:

#1 - Yep, the lack of family management (or even just managing one picked heir or something) is a little bit of a letdown. Pharaoh can't decide between being TW:WH and being TW:S2 with the family/court management. Like S2, I can assign roles to a few people and become Shogun (well, in this one, become the Pharaoh or Hittite King). But like TW:WH, I have essentially a Legendary Lord that doesn't die and just gets wounded.

#2 - I don't know how this would play on Steamdeck. That is not something I would want to try... I mean, the campaign map part probably could work out alright, but the real-time battles I think would be quite difficult on Steamdeck. And yeah, the UI for this is a bit bad just on PC, let alone on the Steamdeck.

Agreed 100%. The game needs the 'family-political tree' feature. That's a major plus for any historical title and should be implemented sometime. Rome 2 didn't have this till later due to complaints. CA Sofia need to add this back.

Idk, I've never looked at any of the family trees of any TW game. I don't get the love for them but to each their own
