I want to buy this, but not with that DRM.
I didn't get Troy so don't really care about the complaints that it is a copy or whatever, from my perspective its an improved version of that game so no big deal. ;) I thought it sounded wicked cool that there are regional unit types and such. I was looking forward to a new real-world-ish Total War title, until I saw the Denuvo warning. Shocked to learn that the Warhammer TW titles all have it too, I guess I wasn't paying attention for those three.

I have my own horror story with (Edit: Denuvo's predecessor) SecuROM in the early days so I'm not (knowingly, at least) gonna buy another title that has Denuvo. My first Total War title was Medieval 2 :Crowned: and I own most of the games made since then, but TW Warhammer 3 will sadly be my last until that gets removed.

Yeah this is a broken record but they need to keep hearing it. :steamsalty:

"Cyberpunk 2077, one of the most anticipated games ever, is being pirated at a rate rarely seen in the gaming world. Already a smash hit through legitimate channels, the game is being shared by an estimated 100,000+ users on public BitTorrent trackers alone. This hasn't gone unnoticed by developer CD Projekt Red which is currently sending wave after wave of copyright takedown notices. " That's 6 million in losses day one incase you cant do math.

i had quoted the below (which you didn't include), regarding your smart statements "they 100% have reason to add a DRM" (CD Projekt never suggested/ said they have reason to add drm, thus its your makeup statement)

after the cyberpunk release they 100% have reason to add a DRM. People will be super hesitant with their next game and would likely be pirated to no end.

funny that you think you know how "people" think, because many people from different forums praise their drm-free policy.
even more funny that you're clueless about how CD Projekt runs business and their belief.

They’re praised for it because millions of people are stealing from them. People tend to not complain about something if they can get it for free kinda just basic common sense there. They’ve lost literal millions in sales. So yea they should have a DRM and likely will in the very near future. You’ll get over it.

Cyberpunk still broke sales record & beat denuvo competitors of that time.

It’s very obvious everything being said to you is just going right over your head. It doesn’t matter if they did good in legit sales they still lost MILLIONS. For you to actually sit here and think that losing millions of dollars doesn’t affect a company because “well they still had good sales.” is just wild. Walmart makes millions of dollars every single day but they have no issue closing a store in a location everyone steals. If they made 10 million but could’ve made 16 million that’s a pretty big difference and they’d definitely rather have the 16. You’d think someone like you who apparently doesn’t have money to pay for internet would be able to see that.

only a simple minded sees 1 piracy = 1 lost sales.

some would go into purchase after trying the game,
some might find out its not their cup of tea (somewhat like steam 2hours refund)
some might never able to pay (who also steals denuvo cracks),
some might never want to pay (who also steals denuvo cracks).

(we cannot trace which pirate does what afterwards,
the only statistics we have, is that they beat denuvo competitors of that time, in sales)

up to you what you wish to believe.

It’s basic common sense. Sure they might get the game later but likely at a discount since they’ve already been playing for free.. But that’s still lost money regardless.

firstly,
indeed they might get the drm-free game later at a discount.
denuvo games also get discount later (basic common sense),
(those half-pirates have access to a sea of games, do you believe they cannot wait for denuvo discounts/ denuvo cracks?)

secondly,
for the fact (stats) that we have, cyberpunk broke sales record in launch month, when it is not discounted.

so,
the already-cracked drm-free game still gets more full-price sales than denuvo competitors, in launch month.

For the record I bought Witcher 3 two times to make sure I paid the full release price.

Its like what I said, they arent this kind of big corpo yet, or werent at the time of CP77 release, but it looks like they might head that way, so you might be right they might start thinking that way. But for now dont compare them to Walmart since they aint this kind of horrible entity just yet.

Its like they might have lost some money but most likely they didnt, and if they did they still made a killing selling an unfinished game during the grand mid pandemic fast. So all and all good for them. I hope they wont turn out like bethesda ;p

Anyhow it looks like we start going in circles here, we might just need to agree to disagree ;p

“Not all pirated stuff is lost money” thank you for showing your intelligence or lack of at least. You do realize talking and admitting to piracy on steam is a big nono not to mention it’s a federal crime that you just admitted to doing for the second time. You and seti definitely aren’t the brightest peas in a pod.
Fortunately we dont live in the Corporate States of Murica and federal law does not apply to us hahahahah xDDDD

Also I know its a big no no on steam to speak about inconvenient truth, but truth non the less, which is why i use this burner account I dont care to loose, its what everyone does.

So dont insult my intelligence please ;p

Its not ok to censor stuff just because its inconvenient for the corpos. I cant make my augments if I dont speak the truth, besides it only shows how misconceptions about piracy clashes with the truth where I tell you that I use piracy in a fair way to not get screwed over rather than take advantage of good companies.

Also if Seti is getting to you just block him and dont take it out on me in from of personal attacks <3
lol that shows how ignorant you are. If you live in a country with extradition agreements with the U.S all they’d need is your name and location and they actually could do something if they really wanted to. Or you’d end up with federal warrants in the U.S and if you ever visited here they’d simply get you when you land. Not saying this would happen but it’s a very real thing that does happen and you seem ignorant of it.

Thank you for admitting they’d likely get the games at a discount meaning the company lost money which is my whole point. Cyberpunk did sell good its first couple days. It also had mass refunds to the point steam and Sony were giving them to anyone who requested them regardless of play time. You really want to keep going cause you clearly know jack about what you’re talking about.
