What year does this game take place?
I know this may sound ignorant, but from what i can tell this is in the year 1200 bc, so before the romans and greek influence on egypt?

You start in 1205 BC. Game events span about 50 years in all, though there isn't a cut off date.

And yes, way before the Roman Empire, Roman republic or even the Roman kingdom existed and way before the Hellenistic period of Greece / Macedonia. We are in 19th / 20th Dynasty New Kingdom Egypt.

Its an interesting date because its the end of an age, centuries later the ancient greeks, persians, and romans seemingly come from nowhere. the power bases in 1200bc don't make a whole lot of sense on modern maps.

If our interested you should look up New Kingdom Egypt for how Egypt looked like then. Look up end of the 19th dynasty for this specific conflict at the start of the game.

There where constantly foreign influence in Egypt. Even Greek. Though not the Greeks you may think off. The Pharaoh had concubines from all over the region and probably fathered children with them. There where migrations into Egypt, we know of Canaanites living in the Delta. There where goods traded. Egypt even had vassals and allies, most prominently Hatti. They had a standing army of four divisions, added to which included mercianaries, such as Sherdens and probably also Nubian contingents.

So Egypt at the time took in influence, but it probably influenced others way more. It is thought Monotheism may gotten significant ideas from New Kingdom Egypt (Amarna Period). There are statues and other monumental art around the eastern medeteranean that may bare an Egyptian inspiration. Some ideas around government and rule may have spread from Egypt. Etc.

For perspective, the events depicted in the game takes place 1100 years before the founding of the Roman empire.
We are closer to the end of the viking age than Romans were to this period in Egypt.
Better yet, in the timeperiod this game takes place, the great wonders of Egypt like the pyramid of Giza and the Sphinx were already 1400 years old during the bronze age collapse.

I always find the sheer longevity and age of Ancient Egypt incredible.

Heck, they're meant to have found evidence of Ancient Egyptian archaeologists studying even more ancient Ancient Egyptian archaeology.

All the Best,

Bit of a leap from 6 to 7 there
If it was a clock usa would appear about 3 seconds to midnight as a world power
and the Ottomans are suing you amongst others

As would various Caliphates, the Habsburgs/Spanish, Imperial China, the Mongols and the Mughal emperors.

And all a bunch of wusses compared to us, users of this forum alone has conquered our known worlds 100 times over , Atilla would barely qualify for a anti social court order for his little foray compared to how many lands I've burnt to the ground

i would have to agree with you on that. Sounds about right to me. And there are world powers that are not on the list ass well. But these are the only ones that directly affect God's chosen people on the bilbe. Both Old and New Testament. Western secular history lines up with the first 6 on the list when you are in World History in high school.

Now thats relativity right there. if a thousand years is as a day, and a day is as a thousand years, for somewhere who never had a beggining and will never have and end. That makes our life time of 70-100 years about 10 minutes. I never even considered that the ancients would be trying to find out about their ancients. o.O

The Romans/Greeks during the Roman Empire's time did tourism to Troy, in the manner we do today. The version of Trojan war most of us know is the roman version, they added some stuff and embelished things. A theory I read about was this is due to, in our words, a pr effort to increase business of tourism.

When you hear stuff like that your suddenly remineded of they where people too just like us. They too looked back at their past and looked at monetizing it :D.

I wouldn't be suprised if there where something going on in Egypt like that.

No Byzantine empire, Langobard empire, Frankish empire, Rashidun caliphate, Umayyad caliphate, Abbasid caliphate, Ottoman caliphate, Timurid empire, Saffavid empire, Portuguese empire, Spanish empire, Dutch empire, French empire or Russian empire; between Rome and the Anglos, on your list?

It's mindblowing. Think even,
Cleopatra the 7th who was the last pharaoh, died 30 years BC.
That's 2000 years ago from our time, but the unification of upper and lower egypt which marked the start of egypt as we think of it today, was 3000 years before Cleopatra was born.
That was done by the first Pharaoh Menes.
But there's more!
In Nubia, in the southern egypt desert is the earliest dated "advanced" megalithic structure, a trace of a complex society. From the construction and other finds at this site called Nubta Playa, we know they had a complex understanding of astronomy.
That society existed and built there 6000 years before Pharaoh Menes unified the Nile valley into ancient Egypt as we know it.
