Best of luck.
That's to be expected for a game with small player numbers since launch (I think all time peak players was only around 5,000). There are other Total War games that probably still have active multiplayer communities if they are some of the more popular ones. I just got back into playing Starcraft 2 myself. Welcome to join me in SC2 Coop
But yeah, shieru definitely should look into rome 2 or three kingdoms if it's historical battles he wants. Or Warhammer 3 if fantasy is okay.
I never actually got into Total War multiplayer. PvP just seems too intense, though I would have liked to have tried out the Shogun 2 version where you got to make your own custom faction in conquest mode (I assume it is dead now or no longer supported)
I really enjoy SC2 Coop. One of the most enjoyable coop experiences I've had on any strategy game or pc game in general. Really a lot of content there with all the different commanders!
If you're on the europe server feel free to add me here on steam and I can let you know my battle.net username. Always fun to have more to play with :D
Ya, I've been working on the prestiges for a few commanders. It takes forever though!
Totally down! I'm always looking for people to play it with. I also play on EU server
That's a shame, too. MP is where TW shines due to the elimination of their bad AI. Since you'll be controlling a lot of the AI's armies (if you're playing h2h campaign) you'll find yourself utilising tactics you've never dreamt of before. Highly recommended.
Ya, fair enough. I'm just more of a casual player and find strategy game PvP way too sweaty. I don't do SC2 PvP either, I only play coop mode. Probably the last strategy game I played PvP in was Stronghold Crusaders in the early 2000's. But I can understand the appeal of PvP in Total War for those who enjoy it
I did enjoy the Total War team based Arena game though where it was simplified to command of a few units. Unfortunately CA discontinued that online mode
Fair one. I only tend to MP with my friends because it's just a game at the end of the day and not a competition (in my eyes) Friends tend to play MP for fun rather than e-points. Definitely worth hunting down some gamer groups with some like-minded members so you can experience TW MP though, it's a far superior version of the game and nowhere near as easy to cheese! lol
Yes, maybe with a friend who is also a casual player. When you start playing online matches though I think it quickly turns into min-maxing and studying particular strategies/using certain units that are statistically the "best" unit for PvP. As I said, I am a casual player so this doesn't appeal to me, same as with SC2 PvP which requires learning build orders and specific types of strategies that I personally don't want to have to study to enjoy playing a game. To those who enjoy the challenge and are hyper competitive I'm sure they will enjoy such PvP matchups. I liked the TW Arena game because it was simplified and not merely about picking the strongest unit roster but also about teamwork and other factors. It's unfortunate they decided to shut that down
I also enjoy the turn based aspect of building armies and managing settlements more than the rts aspect of the battles themselves. I enjoy the element of decision that comes with deciding how to manage your armies so that you have an advantage when it comes to battle (more than the challenge of strategically defeating an opponent in battle when odds are stacked against you). So PvP also will likely appeal more to those who's main interest is the battles themselves rather than campaign strategy (which is my favorite element of TW games)
Well aye, same here. That's why it's the campaign h2h I play rather than just the battles. Another reason why I prefer to play with friends, they and I are more appreciative of the fact that sometimes a turn can take a LONG time. It's not rare to hear "go make a brew, lads, I've got stuff to do this turn" ;p
Yes, I've played a few coop campaigns with a friend in Attila. Was fun, though of course it takes a very long time and requires two committed players
Best MP I had was Napoleon tbf, especially before my brother learned how to use his light infantry (lol, good times) but aye, you do need to set the day aside for it. Best TW experiences yet and the AI's bizarre choice in stack always made for interesting battles.
