What I usually find is that most in-game units are good if you know their strong and weak points. Then you can design ways to exploit those. Eruner says in his video the egyptian royal chariots, that are tier 6 are amongst the best. I find they are a bit meh as ranged chariots, I usually use them to moe down enemy ranged units or bog down enemy chariots. I actually find Tauserts javelin chariots amongst the best egyptian chariots tbh. Their all-around good.
Archers may seem weak when you expect the killing machines from Troy or 3K, but they are really useful in degrading enemy armour before lines clash so the enemy units start losing men from the very beginning of melee.
They also do very well at decimating troops without shields like two handed axemen.
Chariots may seem weak when you expect them to just mow down everythibng you charge them at without paying attention to momentum buildup, terrain or the state of enemy morale. But they really excel at constant harassment with missiles to wittle morale down then charge at the right moment to break it and mop up the fleeing.
Units are pretty well balanced in this game, you just have to use them according to their role in battle.
Agree with archers, their really useful, though you want to mobe towards higher ends towards the end game imo
I find the chariots kill very few when only harrasing. In sieges I usually let the harras the settlement by letting them soak up the ranged fire. While melee chariots may just sit on their butt during much of the game until an opening comes (say enemy has heavy inf and few ranged to chase down etc.).
As Egyptians I would counter those either with Seti's melee chariots or Tauserts javelin chariots. I find archer chariots fare badly against Hittite heavy chariots in general imo
The runners mate :)
Its more about efficiency, they are cheaper to buy and and pretty much expendable. They punch above their weight. Similar to using chargers and vanguard.
Just to confirm you are fighting the battles manually and not auto resolving? You mentioned before in another thread that to auto resolve most battles?
