Short version: axes and archers are good. Swords and spears are bad. Chariots are meh

it turns out that "short version" is far from truth. Clubs are also good, but archers aren't as you may it seem. But it depends on roster too.

Your video series is good. :)

What I usually find is that most in-game units are good if you know their strong and weak points. Then you can design ways to exploit those. Eruner says in his video the egyptian royal chariots, that are tier 6 are amongst the best. I find they are a bit meh as ranged chariots, I usually use them to moe down enemy ranged units or bog down enemy chariots. I actually find Tauserts javelin chariots amongst the best egyptian chariots tbh. Their all-around good.

Tauserts Queens guards are lower in stats, but their really nimble, good for flanking. Tauserts generals can also get an ability/title that makes the queens guards unbreakable, taking advantage of their higher unit count, compared with the local kopesh guards

Spears may seem weak when you just make them charge the enemy, but they shine in spearwall formation holding the line against superior forces so other units are free to flank.

Archers may seem weak when you expect the killing machines from Troy or 3K, but they are really useful in degrading enemy armour before lines clash so the enemy units start losing men from the very beginning of melee.
They also do very well at decimating troops without shields like two handed axemen.

Chariots may seem weak when you expect them to just mow down everythibng you charge them at without paying attention to momentum buildup, terrain or the state of enemy morale. But they really excel at constant harassment with missiles to wittle morale down then charge at the right moment to break it and mop up the fleeing.

Units are pretty well balanced in this game, you just have to use them according to their role in battle.

Indeed, spearwalls are amongs my favourite. Not only that, you can add one with really high armour, put one at range of their ranged in a spearwall formation and the enemy will waste ammunition.

Agree with archers, their really useful, though you want to mobe towards higher ends towards the end game imo

I find the chariots kill very few when only harrasing. In sieges I usually let the harras the settlement by letting them soak up the ranged fire. While melee chariots may just sit on their butt during much of the game until an opening comes (say enemy has heavy inf and few ranged to chase down etc.).

I found the heavy Hittite chariots to actually cause some havoc when charged into the rear of a big melee blob (where the medium chariots would just get stuck and light ones felt like blouncing off.)
Kendji 21 DIC 2023 a las 0:31
Yes, the Hittite heavy chariots are really good, they can take some damage too, so if they can't exit the combat too quickly they don't loose too many of them.

As Egyptians I would counter those either with Seti's melee chariots or Tauserts javelin chariots. I find archer chariots fare badly against Hittite heavy chariots in general imo

I counter those with light tier3+ spearmen and part-time employed archers on the flanks. No use getting my own chariots pinned down in a fight against better chariots.

Interesting, how do you catch them woth spearmen aren't they slower than other infantry?

The runners mate :)
Kendji 21 DIC 2023 a las 1:26
Idk, the runners are not as good at not dying in anti-chariot warfare imo. They work better against heavy chariots. I just find bogging their chariots down with good enough chariots, until you get some guys to come help is more reliable. Idk, maybe I'm using the runners wrong or something

Its more about efficiency, they are cheaper to buy and and pretty much expendable. They punch above their weight. Similar to using chargers and vanguard.

Just to confirm you are fighting the battles manually and not auto resolving? You mentioned before in another thread that to auto resolve most battles?
