Should I get the standard or dynasty version?
The game seems very appealing and exciting to me, I love history and specifically ancient egypt. But is this a good game for someone without a lot of total war experience? From the streams and gameplay I saw, it seems quite accessible. I prefer a more realistic approach rather than the Warhammer titles. If so, is the more expensive version worth it or should I just go with the regular one?

If you think you'll want to be playing the DLCs as they release then it's a 25% discount on that.

Total War games are what I call casual war games. The systems aren't that complicated. It's nothing like Paradox titles. There are systems, but it's not particularly complicated. i.e. You can figure out what's going on by following the tools tips and just playing around with the options. You won't have to watch tutorial videos online.

That being said, I generally play every total war game I buy for hundreds of hours. So, obviously the dynasty version is a better deal. It just allows you to get an upfront discount instead of having to wait for sales. You're probably looking at waiting at least two years from now to get a sale on all the dlc that equals the 25% off. Just my two cents.

I have found Pharaoh in early access to have more depth, similar to Paradox, you have to do machiavellian actions in the court each turn, also you follow ambitions and legacies, it recalls me of Crusader Kings but in Pharaoh is presented very easy to use. Another thing I loved is the sense of discovery when you travel by the map, a very beautiful map, you can recruit new types of units from local subcultures. Is very engaging.

Get Dynasty, is the best deal, also you get nice alternative skins options for all your generals and bodyguards.

I am not into Paradox games. However I think this one might be good for me since I really love Ancient Egypt. Are the court things mandatory or necessary? Or are they more of a side thing?

More likely the Deluxe and Dynasty editions will disappear on launch date but the packages will be back during the sales - like they did with Troy's editions.

It's funny you say that because I felt the same. I just played through a campaign in CK3 before early access. I guess my point is it's more intuitive and simpler in TW games than paradox. Although, CK3 is much more streamlined and intuitive than previous Paradox games imho. The map is gorgeous in Pharaoh.

The Court mechanics is an essential part of the game progression in the campaign. There was a tube video or article demonstrating it, if I find it I'll post it.

It looks awesome, thanks. Honestly I think for me, someone on the fence, it's better to just go regular version. And then acquire the DLC I want. It's a very expensive gamble to to Dynasty directly.. if I think about it. But the game does look awesome and I am certainly getting it.

Well, taking seats or make a petition in the court gives you extreme benefits. Is not redundant or boring. But also you can play as you want, is the most sandbox with the support of many choice systems.
When you start as egypt general you are under the rule of an old Pharaoh, and you can have your life as you wish, race for the crown you want, follow the legacy you want, worship gods from a different country if you wish, aything you want you can, but if you use the systems in place you'll find better rewarded for doing what you want.
Example: you want be the best conqueror, I would follow the legacy of Tutmoses, take a seat in the court as First Commander of the Pharaoh, taking new elite units and the skill to flank enemies effectively with the best bonuses, an advantage of being First Commander of Pharaoh. If you want have cheaper maintenance of your armies you should take the seat of the visir, you'll have many options, but you could ignore all of this most the time if you want. These systems are to support better sandbox experiences with depht and historically accuracy.

Since I am more of a newcomer to the series I thinking of grabbing Three Kingdoms, so I will play that and get accustomed to the controls and stuff.. Or is there another, better one for beginners? I heard Rome 2 or Attila, but also Thrones of Brittania since it has a smaller scope.

it depend if you like the game or not, right now it's just a gamble.
Buy it only if you don't care to waste your money. They can say it's a deal, it's not. You didn't play the game yet, maybe it's bad, or you will not like it. But more important these DLC Pack it's just a smoky promises of futurs contents. We never know what will happen if the game fail maybe they will rush it and give you some crappy content and move on to something else (hello 3 Kingdoms).
So, in the end it's more can i accept to lose my money on this or not ! Nothing else, really, specialy when we know nothing about their real plan for this game and we know how CA work.
