Did Hyenas effect Totalwar?
I never knew CA blew 100 million on a cancelled shooter. I bet a lot of the community who spent money on Totalwar would be shocked to know about the project called Hyenas. As a long time fan i had no idea it existed but i did know CA made a lot of money off Totalwars recently.

Im just going to say it now, is there now no hope for any future games? After losing 100 million this is 100 million taken out of totalwar. So will this mean no new AI and a new Engine. Now CA will have to recoup 100 million?

Its honesrly worth a deep look into. The game had woke characters who looked awful art wise. It seems they did not do market resesearch to realize it was a saturated market yet someone decided it was ok to keep wasting money. What will hurt for TW fans is this was Total War money taken by a few executives and poured down the drain. As far as we can tell, This is the biggest most expensive flop in gaming of all time by the way!

We don't know. CA is one of Sega's big prizes. I have no idea the level of their involvement, but I'd imagine it will increase on seeing those losses. Pressure will be on to do something their customers want. It's gotten stale and needs a jump to a new physics-based engine. Maybe they could do empire 2, then move. Been suggested.

Most likely, a wasted investment of that size isnt going to take place in a vacuum

WH3 made 2 billion in sales, not counting DLCs. No, Hyenas didn't effect TW dev, they had enough money to just trash it and move on.

it's completely different branch than total war. it dosen't matter they have multi projects and wouldn't effect total war branch in anyway

Probably. The only ones who know for sure work at CA.

A 100 million hole in the ground is hard to explain to Sega. It's not exactly pocket change.

yes, it is actually. I don't think you understand how popular WH3 is.

2 Billion in sales? Where did that number come from? Did some research and couldn't find it.

I hardly think they even made 1 Billion, those are huge numbers for a game to achieve, specially for a Total war game, who despite being a famous franchise they're not that big.

The video suggests a leaker revealed that it did indeed result in job losses from the totalwar team and unreleated departments. I do wonder how many executives lost thier jobs over it.

The websites still up for it oddly.

they've sold 40 million copies.

The most recent major game released was Total War: Warhammer III on February 17, 2022. As of October 2022, the series has sold over 40.4 million copies. I've seen 36 million copies as well, suffice to say, it's a billion dollar title for them.

Just out of curiosity, how many people here have inside information on this? I would love to know, but it's kind of pointless just throwing out wild speculation.

The story goes like this: They attempted to cash in on Fortnite's success. They were going to use an existing engine. After some development, it was apparent the engine wasn't sufficient for the game. They created a new one, but it took too long and the Fortnite craze was already over. I believe this information came from an article that interviewed a prior employee.

The entire TW series. It'd be 2.4B if ALL those copies were sold at 60$
WH3 itself has an estimated 1-2M owners, so at best it'd be 120M
