It’s ‘fun’ in the same manner Attila is ‘fun’.

The weather system sounds good on paper, but in practice you end up just waiting it all out. I never fight in weather that isn't either Clear (no effects) or Sweltering (fatigue drain). Everything else is just annoying.

Don't think its too much of an issue. Can work in your favour depending on the situation. Makes missile units pretty useless, good for me if i'm taking over settlements or scouting round with chargers, vanguards, hidden terrain units etc, etc.

I have won a very difficult battle I was almost certainly going to lose because of a sandstorm. If they enemy outnumbers you, especially in ranged, you can really take advantage of dividing and conquering them because of the teenie tiny range of archers during a storm. But, most of the time, it's just annoying. Not only because of the penalties, but because of the reduction in my own visibility.

The Hittites have certain bonuses to rain, thunderstorms, and fog which could be useful. But, it's the rng element of it that makes it usually just a nuissance.

There's rain?

I don't think I've ever seen rain or thunderstorms in my 100 turn campaign.

Yep depends where you are on the map and how likely it is. Rain is pretty common in the area where Bay starts for sure.

It's really common in Hittite land.

Anyone who is "waiting out" for clear weather is missing a core feature of the game with its weather system. The whole point is to show that battles DID take place in sandstorms and other ill weather. Learning to use it to your advantage is a core part of the game and can be fun.

I think the biggest issue for people who don't find the game "fun" is the time period. The Bronze Age isn't "sexy". There was no cavalry besides chariots and it's mostly infantry battles. It also doesn't help that most infantry are similar to each other due to lack of technological advances of the time. I find the time period fascinating, but I can understand why people may not. The problem isn't the game, at least when it comes to unit representation. The problem is people not understanding Bronze Age warfare and/or who were spoiled with Warcraft's or Rome/M2's unit variances.

Waiting is a feature though. And you're clearly missing out on the fact that generals DID wait out unfavorable weather to take advantage of their military capabilities in dry weather.

What a weird take. Is the "wait" feature not a feature to you despite the fact that it exists as a feature?

I find them incredibly thematic, the persistent damage and other penalties create an urgency that I just love. My favorite battles of all time have been in the sandstorm

That's not true for me personally. I absolutely love the Bronze age.
I find it kinda stupid that your soldiers will eventually die if they let the sand storm go on. I have experienced sand storms and I am pretty sure I would not have died if I stood 50 minutes in one

I love it! It allows me to exploit the weather. As Amenmesse I built an Libu-derived low-mid teir full-stack army. I fought and defeated a few mid-high sea people armies that came down the nile to Kush. I went aggressive and flanked the enemy, left range into minor role. The weather cleared later in the battles, but by then the damage was done to the enemy. I lost a bit, but was able to defeat a superior enemy with an inferior army.
