Multiplayer Campaigns: A Step Backwards
So, we're back to forced head-to-head and co-op multiplayer campaigns with a limit of two players? Why are we backpedalling from Total War: WARHAMMER III, which introduced custom multiplayer lobbies that allow up to 8 players to join in on a true sandbox experience with whatever team compositions they wish (+simultaneous turns)? Three Kingdoms should have at least allowed for 3 player campaigns and even Troy should have had a higher limit of 2 player campaigns.

Hard pass. I will not be purchasing this game. I play these games with a combination of friends and siblings, yet only two of us will be able to play a single campaign. I've enjoyed Medieval II, Attila, Three Kingdoms, and Troy, but CA should not be regressing development progress when it comes to features. I doubt we'll even see simultaneous player turns.

I'm sure this game will turn out fine for those that wish to play by themselves or with one other person, but it looks like my group and I will be sticking with Warhammer. Quite a shame really, considering that we were hoping that the progress made toward multiplayer campaigns in Total War: Warhammer III would be applied to future historical titles as well.

Different teams, different code. Not all of it is shared in advance or at all. Not defending them but CA is split into three studios, usually labeled A, B, and Saga by the fans. Not all developments from one branch make it into others. E.G: Diplomacy from 3k, war fatigue from Attila DLC.

Fair points, but the sentiment of there being downgrades, in certain areas compared to previous entries, is enough for me to pass on this title.

Yea they should atleast add campaign settings/parameters for coop.

Because they are built on different versions of the engine. The Warhammer 3 engine is the most modern. The version of engine the Sofia team is working on doesn’t have that new multiplayer code
