Why isn't this more like OOTP?
The immersion, the stats, the UI, everything in this just seems half azzed thrown together, OOTP is polished and I have nearly 2000 hours playing it, this game is almost unplayable. I bought this game because I couldn't find any good management simulation games besides the aforementioned OOTP and playing this game I see that my search still continues.

Because 1. It's a completely different sport 2. Completely different developers

playbase, more people currently play ootp 22 than fhm 9. It's a shame, but without more players there won't be heavy investment. FHM has never averaged above 200 players for a month ( according to steam charts ), whilst OOTP 23 ranged from 900-1200 during it's cycle.

Not all OOTP/FHM players use steam obviously but it's a pretty good indication.

Hopefully the playerbase grows over time ( though, it seems pretty consistent year over year based on steamcharts ) and OOTP can justify more resources for FHM, because obviously the developers care for the series.
Baseball is far more popular sport than Hockey. The same applies to FM and EHM, where soccer is massively popular compared to hockey. Hockey games are niche sports games.

Me and my friends have been spying out FHM for a little while now. I think we'll finally get it if and when 10 comes out but we also are hoping for improved in-game graphics (such as 3D.) I don't play sports sims as much (mostly cause the other sports dont interest me as much as hockey) but my friends do and the 3D graphics have been amazing to them.

This feels like a cyclical trap. They won't invest time/money because it doesn't have a strong playerbase, but they don't have a strong playerbase because the game looks like they don't invest time/money in it. As it stands, that's my biggest hesitation. the UI doesn't look very intuitive at all, and instead looks very clunky. Straight out of the year 2004.

It's a shame Hockey isn't a more popular sport, because that's the argument that EA uses. There wasn't a strong playerbase for PC, so they don't release on PC. Even though that was more than 10 years ago. If it was a more popular sport, they might just risk further investment.
