Pro Strategy Football 2023

Comparison To Front Page Sports Football Pro?
I haven't really played any football computer game much since the days of FPS Football Pro '95 and '98. How does this game compare?

Is it possible to have a have an all-fantasy league in this game in career mode? If so, how many teams maximum?

This game has career mode, like FPS Football. Up to 32 team max for career leagues with the current version, programmer will attempt to increase that number in future versions.

Yes, my previous touchstone was FPS as well--though I did try other football games. You can generate a fantasy league and coach it through several years in career mode. That's exactly what I do--last year I had a league set in the 80s, this year I have a modern 32-team league. There are lots of great mods out there, so you can base a league after actual NFL teams or fantasy teams (my preference)--I haven't had to create a single graphic, as the modders have created those for their fictional teams as well. Between seasons, there's a free agency with a franchise tag, a free agent draft, a college draft, and a simplified training camp system. Also, when you create your fictional league, you can set some parameters for how good the players are.

As for other comparisons--biggest difference between this and FPS is that in this game the match engine produces (imho) better statistical results, the AI plays a better game, and you're more likely to call plays on the fly than build a playbook. The AI calls plays on the fly, too.

As you can see from my profile name I am also a Front Page Sports FB Pro refugee.
In fact I was still playing FBPro97 until I found "PSF 2021" and have enjoyed playing it ever since.
I agree with DocK and Apollo's statements above and I strongly recommend trying it.

FBPRO was such a great game. It set the standard for me, which is why I had not been happy with any football games since. Until now of course, and this game for the most part goes way beyond our beloved FBPro.

If by fantasy you mean dump an NFL season into a draft pool and draft, then no. But Kerry has talked about it for a future release.
But if by fantasy you meant fictional, then yes you can create leagues with all fictional players, as the guys said above.

Any chance that the old Fbpro fantasy league (basically, tne game's NFL93 rosters with all the names changed) have been modded into this game? A longshot, but that would be a great nostalgia trip. I changed all the team names when I played that league in Fbpro, but the player names and general roster composition are still etched in my memory.

Trying to understand here ... do mean all the FICTIONAL names from the generic FPS 93 league, or the 1993 NFL season? If you mean the 1993 season, ALL NFL seasons from 1940 to today can be downloaded free from the PSF Mod site. Look under the 2023 teams tab, to make sure you download versions for the 2023 game, and not earlier versions.

I meant the fictional player names. The stats were all the same as Fbpro's NFL93 league file, but all the player names had changed. For example, the Dallas Bulls had Dan Gambino handing off to Joe Rapid and throwing to Vinny Crafts and Dan Hudson instead of Aikman, Emmitt, Irvin, and Novacek. Because I got Fbpro95 as a teenager and during my first year as a football fan, many of those names are as familiar to me as the actual NFL players from 1994.

I think the smaller league options in Fbpro98 also had different fantasy rosters (Fbpro95 might have just just a subset of the 28-team fantasy league's teams).

HUGE fan of FPS football from back in the day (many decades of ingame play). Yes you can make a fantasy league of made up names (or even insert real world teams).

i don't recall the maximum number of teams*** but there are some limitations in order for the automatic playoffs to work (or at least there was when i was playing the game at release). The dev was fairly active which is a good sign for any game like this

*** from the store page
Exhibition, Single Season, and Career modes! Single season supports up to 12 conferences and 131 teams!

seems weird that that they don't give an indication of max for career

Maximum for career (franchise) play is 32 teams, and must include 2 conferences.
Minimum I believe is 4 teams ( 2 conferences of 2 teams, lol).
