I can't wait either. Is there a way to speed up time itself or no?

We never had a China civ in AOM. We had a steaming pile of ♥♥♥♥ pretending to be one, yes, but this is entirely different.

There is a trailer out, and we all saw that nothing in there is like Tale of the Dragon, so no, we are not paying extra for something we used to have, this is a completely new Chinese pantheon. Even the Major Gods are different, since the only one they seem to have kept was Nu Wa.

they have to be trolling if they're saying stuff like that after the trailer we saw, not worth responding directly to imo

hopefully new china is gonna be awesome!

Trailers will be trailers, do not take too much from it until the DLC is released

Where are you getting this info? If its from the DLC description its misleading as neither Chiyou or Nu Ba qualify as major gods

The Tale of the Dragons major god lineup is authentic and does not need to be changed, only added to

Tale of the Dragon (ToD) is nice addon, but it is more fan-made than profesional-made expansion,

ToD China does not have original mechanics or features, it is like generic AoE2 civilisation within AoM.

Yet the theme is the same. Nothing really new here mate. I could not care less about China as in my eyes, it does not fit with a game like AoM at all and is only added to please the numerous Chinese players and Chinese market.

Whatever it is...China was part of the previous title and it seems like lazy-work to now add it again as the first DLC. They should have gone for any other nation/culture...change my mind.

WTH. The only thing that this pantheon and the stuff fro EE have in common is the name.
Chinese mythology is quite interesting.. wukong or how it is called is a big success because of it.
One pantheon for each continent (except australia) would be a nice start.
I know u probably want to have your hometown as a civ... like many ppl do. Change my mind.

You are not familar with Age of Mythology (AoM).

Original AoM was released in 2002, and received The Titans expanions in 2003. Than the Microsoft developers moved to other projects.

AoM was re-released on Steam in 2014, and received Tale of the Dragon (ToD) expansion with China in 2016.
This expansion (re-release) was not made by original developers, but by the fans.
ToD is not bad, but far from the quality of original expansion - to put it bluntly, how the China civ is designated. It is kind of fan-made mod ported as expansion.

To say directly and clear - ToD is amateur expansion.

That is why, ToD is not part of Retold and China is going to be made again, it is proper solution.

Hopefully, You understand now.

mind.

I am European, and I am looking forward to new Chinese civ in AoM.

Well, did You actually play "old" China from ToD?
I am sure not...

They won't understand because they don't care, they just hate China and can't imagine someone who isn't Chinese finding Chinese mythology interesting.

Chinese mythology has plenty going for it, Jade Empire is still one of my favourite games and it went all in on it for a fictional setting.

The Jade Emperor, teracotta soldiers, horse demons, toad demons, creepy assassins, ghosts, creepy cannibal monsters... It was a great experience.
Valkez Oct 11, 2024 @ 6:39am
I dunno, I'm always happy to have more assets to make scenarios, but I would have preferred many other mythologies to the Chinese.
Nothing bad about China per se, but their style is so unique that it sticks out a bit too much when you put them in a scenario with other cultures.
