Why can you buy the premium upgrade edition if you don't even have the base game?
Very confusing, should be sold as a dlc instead.
Also, no discount for AoM EE players is very disappointing

IMO if you have the original game you should be able to just by the premium edition upgrade to get retold. Just blows my mind that people who’ve been playing this game for the last 2 decades are supposed to pay $50 just to use the portraits we’ve been used to and love as well as getting the Chinese which again is something we’ve already had for quite some time. Just seem bogus to treat vet customers like this. I’ll likely get the game cause I love it but I’m not too happy about the pricing and how it’s being handled.

what are you talking about? I own EE and I received a discount, pretty sure they even said as much<

You get discount for premium edition (15%?) if you own both AoM EE and the DLC: Tales of The Dragon. Normal version wasn't discounted or enough to get the discount.

Its a remake, why should that even be done? The game was remade almost completely from the ground up in a new version of the aoe 3 engine. It's perfectly fine to not want to buy it because its a rehash of an already done game, but to think you should get a newly made game for the price of a dlc is crazy.

No it wasn’t lmao I’ve had this game for over 2 decades and the only differences are the graphics, UI, and voices. Other than that the game is the exact same. Not sure who’s leg you guys are trying to pull with this “the games been completely remade” crap cause sorry to tell you but my 4 year old niece can tell they’re the same game.

Ah I see, I thought that 15% was just the pre-order bonus but I still think it's a bad discount since it should be on the base game and more generous

I agree and I also thought it was simply a preorder discount like most games have.

maybe check some videos of the past beta, than you will see that much more changed.
the biggest change which you didnt mention is the ability to use god powers multiple times.

they also changed the way some factions work. almost all gods have new abilities. some have more impact than others but i did approach each faction a bit differently from how i played them in the previous games

inside the beta was something called the treasury, which has information on units, game concepts and buildings. on the resources tab of that they mentioned that the atlanteans are going to get favor from scouting the map with oracles,

these are the biggest changes, but therea are many many more

Played the game for the last 2 decades and simply changing the graphics and a few abilities doesn’t mean it’s a new game. You’re literally what’s wrong with the gaming industry currently cause devs can put in minimal effort and people like you will buy it. The fact they clearly used AI for the portraits is a huge sign of incompetence.

sure, sure....
if believing that makes you happier than by all means believe that.

meanwhile plenty of people that played the beta enjoyed it and praised it for the gameplay changes it made.
there are plenty of things to complain about with this game, like the artstyle and voices, but lack of gameplay changes is not one of them.

It’s not a matter of belief if it’s facts. Simply changing the gameplay slightly doesn’t warrant a $50 price tag and I know you’re going to say “well you can buy the $30 edition” yea and then I don’t get to use the portraits I’ve been using for over 20 years and I get to rebuy the Chinese DLC later on. It’s baffling to me that there’s people who actually think this is okay. But hey when games eventually cost $100 for the base game you’ll have no one to blame but yourselves for giving into BS business practices.

the point is it took the developers time and effort to make this new version of the game.
they need to get payed.
just because you already own an old version of the game it does not mean that the new version magically appeared out of thin air, ready for them to sell.

i am really wondering if that is what you do? go to work and than tell your boss that you dont need to get payed because he already payed you before?

you said they changed nothing besides voices and art, i gave you a small list of things that changed, and explained that there where more changes.
they didnt just released an old game with a new splash of paint, they did some actual work on this.
sure we can debate on the quality of the work (espeically the art) but the work was done, and the developers who did that need to get payed.

I think 50 EUR is the minimum. I'm fine with paying that for a graphics upgrade for one of my favourite games. Here they changed more than just the graphics. I'm just very glad that they didn't forget about Age of Mythology and hope we will see more content in the future.

If they change too much, they kill the original flair of the game. These accidents have happened to C&C. It was terrible what they did to it.
