That's an upgrade for those who have the base game already.

There's the base game.
The premium upgrade.
And the premium itself, which costs the most. But also has a discount if you own AOM EE.

it's a bit strange to put the upgrade above the base game.

alright i see, this is like an upgrade, but will the "upgrade" still have a discount after release or is this only before the release?

I'm not trying to be condescending, so keep that in mind. There's a rubric on the store page that explains everything.

I'm happy to explain though.

AOM: Retold is a completely separate game to AOM: Extended Edition. It has it's own store page. It's not DLC. It's not an upgrade. If it were an upgrade it would link to the original store page, and Retold itself would be DLC, (similar to Skyrim Special Edition having Skyrim Anniversary Edition as a DLC.)

There's 3 choices on the store page:
1. Upgrade to Premium - this upgrades your basic AOM: R to the premium edition.

2. The base game

3. Premium editing - base game & all premium perks

To note: they should specify whether this Retold has the OG 2 campaigns alongside those 2 new ones. They should also specify whether one of those campaigns in the premium will be a better version of that terrible Chinese disaster.

It's definitely confusing and unclear. Same way they were not organised about this closed beta until short notice.

Imo, but the premium edition. If you already own EE then you'll get that premium discount. So base game content + 2x expansions. What worries me personally is they weren't clear on the expansions being campaigns for solo players either. So AOM Titans Expansion was an expansion. Based on that word usage we can expect a new solo campaign. Hopefully they don't scre it up for me, a solo player.

Hope my reply was helpful.
