a 6 civilization is guaranteed but who knows after that
means ... after these 2 , there is no more ?
sounds like not good .
And given the state of affairs, I'm not too optimistic that we'll see more. I think we'll be lucky after all if they release more major gods for the existing civilizations. But my opinion on the matter is as good as anyone else's.
How do you measure popularity though? To me, Retold is a success, but it also seems the multiplayer aspect has not been doing particularly great. Only the DLC sales will tell if the devs could be interested in doing more, but the slow pace, poor quality and little communication of the updates make me think they might already be stretched thin as they are. They don't give me the vibe of "we're fully invested into this". But I guess we'll see.
Sigh... I was hoping for Indian mythology, Sumerian mythology, and South American mythology, but it looks like none of them are there... Sigh...
New DLCs releases rely on how much money the game brings in, that depends of how big the playerbase is, that in turn depends on Microsoft Sure giving access to PS5 players and targetting Chinese audience is the thing to do yet will it be enough ?
I pray so.
That's the reason why AoE 3's DLC was cancelled, the game was stagnating and half dead after so many years, the number of players at an all time low despite having already 4 DLCs.
Age of Empires 2 in general has more campaigns/stories than any other rts game ever
