Xbox cross platform?

At the main menu, in the top it has a “link to Xbox severs” option. I assume that links your Xbox account to the Steam account. Does that unlocks achievements and such to both platforms? Or what’s that do exactly??

Don't think this answers your particular question but I can confirm that you can play AoM Retold cross compat with Xbox and PC, as me and a mate play it.
