Though from what others have said, the engine AOMR uses is a modified version of the one used for AOE 3 DE, which is apparently very hard to mod, hopefully the dev team have decided to make the game easier to mod, we'll just have to wait and see how much they interact with the community.

That's not what I'm implying, De3 is the engine they are using and Retold is being ported in it.
De3 by itself is hard to mod, not that it's even harder than Aoe3Tad.

Surprised to hear about it being hard to mod considering it based on same engine as AOM. I suspect part of reason is general less custom game and mod interest compared to AOM.

It's not the same engine as aom, it's a slightly modified (added raytracing) version of the engine used for Age of Empires 3 DE

And that is the engine that is pretty hard to mod any games made with it

Apparently, with the Asien Dynasties, modding became easier as they removed a few hard-coded limitations, and removed the need for mods to be in their own bar archives (i think)

Agreed! We'll have to see how easy it will be to add new models (I have a human female base mesh template in blender i could use. It's very NSFW though :P
