Okeanos in the trailer
Okay, so there was the trailer, where a bunch of gods where shown at the end. And for a short moment, there's Okeanos. Or at the very least, a god who looks just like him.
All the other gods in the lineup are major gods. Okeanos is a minor god.

Any idea of what that could mean?
Technically, Okeanos would make sense as major god. He's the ocean as Uranos is the sky and Gaia is the earth. It's even said somewhere that after Kronos castr@ted and dethroned his father, Gaia split from Uranos (the sky) to get together with the sea. And as an ocean god, he'd be the closest match to Poseidon within a titanic pantheon.
In the original, he is a minor god. Uranos is the major god.
Are they changing that? Do they replace Uranos with Okeanos?
Or am I simply overthinking this, and they just added him into the trailer randomly for no reason at all? Or does that only look like Okeanos, and it's in reality the new art for Uranos, but we didn't get to see him properly?

In actual mythology, Oceanus was considered a big deal. Like, his power was compared to that of Zeus, and some scriptures place him above Uranos in the hierarchy.
Making Oceanus a minor god is something that didn't make much sense in the original, but they did it anyway.
He wasn't strictly a god, he was a titan. Zeus and his siblings are the gods that start the Olympian generation. I'm not saying that titans were inferior or weak. I'm just saying that according to mythology they are different.

AoM is a game that creates its own rules. Bing Oceanus a "minor" god doesn't mean either that he's weak. Just means that's he's part of 2 Attie deities which surprise are titans too. Don't read "minor" as weak. We have super strong "minor" gods as Apolo, Artemis, Athena, etc.

I'm not saying he's going to get elevated to major god status, I don't know how much sense it would make, outside of mythology wise. But why would they put him in the lineup of gods, that are otherwise all major gods, and not even all the major gods. Set and Hades are missing. We saw Set on the poster, but Hades not yet. Nor Uranos. I'd like to know how Uranos looks like now, after they changed Gaia so much.
As I've said major or minor are just titles the game needs to categorise the gods tree and even that is arbitrary when basically most of the "minor" gods in the Greek pantheon are Zeus's children but he can't have all the gods right? That's called balance and they split many of them just because.
Hades is missing but just because they maybe didn't finish his portrait or because they didn't considered him to be part of the trailer. Not all the several and several gods can't enter in the promotional video and well, that's it. Hades and the ones missing are so important as the rest present there.
Gaia definitely seems completely different I prefer the old model where she was "more human". This new avatar shows her too feal as a nymph or a forest magical creature but well I guess I'll get used to it too. It's not that bad either.

On the topic of Hades, I don't know why he's getting so much ♥♥♥♥ from pop culture, being forced into a villain role so much. In actual mythology, he's actually one of the chillest dudes among the greek gods, and a far cry from the evil-dude Hollywood so loves to portray him as... Makes me feel bad for not playing Hades more.
I know I'm pretty fond of Greek M.
Hades was a noble god, shy, peaceful and respectful, he's the God of Dead not the "god of death" and unlike Loki or Seth he wasn't an evil god. But they chose the disney way where you need the good and bad guys and as it happens often in movies, comics, etc well they want that silly way. I don't like that either but at least he isn't shown too evil in this game though he commands creatures against Arkantos iirc during the campaign.
Btw Hades and Gaia are my fave gods actually.

Yes, both Athena and Ares are minor gods, when in reality they were the patron gods of Athens and Sparta, respectively.

I noticed the same thing. It was really a shock for me to place Oceanus there among major gods. Good that more people caught this detail... It seems very deliberate placement.

My guess is that Oceanus will be the next Major God for Atlanteans (one focusing on navy) and his Minor God role will be occupied by a river god (a cool one like Scamander would fit, there is like 3000 river gods according to Hesiod). I personally don't like to mess with traditional minor gods mechanics/identification but let's wait and see what it really is

It is 99% unlikely but this god can be actually Neptune and an indication of a roman pantheon incoming. But I believe that I am the only AoM fan dreaming about Romans being the unknown DLC civ... But I can dream, you know?
