Now you raise an interesting point. What's the point of a new Major God/Civ without new mythological units?

I'm not going to lie, I'm here for the Divine powers and the MU. Just a not so strong or impressive Divine power (since it's from the first age), some bonuses, one or two new technologies and a new arrangement of minor gods doesn't impress me that much without new MU.
I think it would make more sense to maybe see Freyr get a unique minor god of an earlier age because otherwise he will have the exact same options as other Norse gods there since there's only 3 for each age.

I don't see how unique minor gods would have to be limited to the mythic age and the mythic age is the only time Freyr could be given a not used combination of options yet.

I'd go with giving him a unique classical age minor god. Freyja being his sister would obviously stay, but the other option could be new.
Bragi should be there for heroic age, because golden boar.

All the major gods only provide scout units in the Archaic age

Personally don't want this to become Company of Heroes 2 'commanders for cash or grind'

There is probably too much for the dev team to do a new minor god with the Chinese to rework and a new pantheon. Considering for Norse, you have to take into account Loki Classical Hersir rush, as well as the question: Will this god be Prometheus 'must pick always' or Oceanus level of 'terrible don't pick'

All Major Gods provide essentially the whole civ bonii, an upgrade, and Archaic God Power.
Greek MGs also grant an Unique Unit.

Major Gods are a whole new civ, like Thor which buffs Dwarves and gives all you units an extra layer of Blacksmith Techs, and makes those techs available at any Age.
The bonii that MGs giv usually are the most important parts of the game. Set has a great Economy because of Set Animals, for example, not because of the Minor Gods he Ages Up with.
I do think they should make the civs that aren't greek a little more different from each other.
Zeus, Hades and Poseidon all have different heroes and a different fortress unit.

At the very least they could give the Norse Hersirs a different helmet based on their major god. Would also make it easier to spot Loki's Hersir who might summon myth units in battle.

Or different symbols on the shields, Thor's extra weapon upgrades being visual, etc.
There was the ability to convert gatherers into Ulfsarks, right?
What if there were 3 different Ulfsark models based on which gatherer gets turned into an Ulfsark, male, female or dwarf.
They could be identical, stats wise, so it would only make an aesthetic change for visual consistency, while the balancing stays the same.

Usually non-Greek civs have more markedly different civ bonii, like Gaia Lush aeround buildings, Thor super Blacksmith in Archaic, Set Animals, Osiris Priest Bless, Kronos Building Teleport...

Greeks are actually by far the most samey of the Major Gods, between each other. They really need the UUs to stand out.

Set can convert enemy Hunts into Set Animals, and you send them to your TC. This gives Set an AMAZING Economy for himself, while taking away Eco from the opponent.

I think they already did this. There is a female Ulfsark model in the teaser screenshots.

The Ragnarök god power turns all dwarves and gatherers into heroes. The models of those heroes don't actually correspond to what type of gatherer they were before the spell, but its seemingly random.
I once noticed that half the heroes next to the gold mine weren't dwarf sized, and about a third of the heroes on the fields were dwarf sized. Even tho I know I only had dwarves mining gold, and no dwarves working on food. I'd like that to correspond as well. Would give more visual consistency. Would change nothing about the game balance, as the 3 model variations don't come with stat differences of any kind.

There is? I completely missed that.

Edit: I just zoomed in, and there's clearly two different models of Ulfsark.
