For units that can heal, they really should have a very easily toggleable setting for "heal first" or "heal only" so that if you put them in a group, they don't give up their most useful ability to go execute a weak attack on whatever counters them.
In fact, I really wish units would stop defaulting to attack their counters as a general rule. Nothing pisses me off more than watching infantry go in and try to chase around skirms and villagers instead of actually hitting things, or watching cavalry look for that pikeman-type unit and ignore anything else on the battlefield to go get slaughtered. They did this nonsense in AoE3 and they've brought it into AOM:R and it's a real frustrating thing to have to deal with. I don't like having to fight intentionally bad programming all game.
Let's just hope it reaches their ears at some point.
it is definitly my most wanted change on that game since first one.
Just set them to stand ground, the only thing they will do is heal if they are near damaged units.
I know of that method, but since I mostly select my group and set them to defensive stance as new units join and that also affects the priests within that group which makes me either have to keep deselecting the priests, set them to a different group or having to manually put them back to stand ground, which are all too daunting. Setting the game to default defensive stance solves this problem for me and I used that for a while, but then it caused other bugs with the game (the caravan idling bug), which then forced me to revert back to aggressive stance.
I use the hotkey for 'select all heroes' with Egyptians for the healing micro it works quite well
Would that also select an empowering pharaoh?
I was a bit disappointed but then I read one of the changes coming in the PUP which prevents select all heroes or select all military to select empowering units.
