The Dwarven Forge
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it was not this rough in the original. I just beat it on moderate here and just barely. Like 90 giants all at once from all direction but the one you came in from. Christ.

did you not think about destroying the bases they have around the forge first and then taking the objective? makes it much easier since in this game if you blow a production building up they lose a significant amount of power

Yeah I did consider that but the timing was gorshed and I didn't have a chance to go around breaking their stuff before charging into the center

I tried doing it the 'normal' way the first time i did it but the waves were relentless so I just decided to smash their stuff up before capturing it, worked out way better

What I did was have a FORTUNATELY huge army, repeatedly cast Frost to buy time, desperately turn all my villagers into Berserkers, and eventually just have my dudes sacrificing their lives just to land a few hammer swings to repair the forges for the last few seconds.

dude the bases are scattered all over, it literally takes a while to track the temples, but they come from every direction lol

if this complaint was about " all is not lost " mission 30 on fall of trident campaign i would be so on board and in agreeance. that level is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ imbalanced

If you're swatting temples, look at what they're defending with. It's essentially all giants and trolls. Make 2 groups of hersir heroes. Throw in some ranged units if you want, but you don't really need it. Just make the counters to their myth units, then flatten the temples. If they're spawning too fast, bring siege specifically to clear the buildings. You can easily have two armies clearing with a few units at home for the timed raids on your base. It's very doable.

There are two ways to win this mission, Defend the Forge or Destroy the giants' bases. Defending the Forge is actually very difficult, but destroying the giants' bases is quite easy.

Defending against the attacks that the giants send at you is simple, Valkyries heal, Reginleif heals (fast), all you need to do is destroy all the buildings and kill everyone except those buildings at the foot of the forge, or destroy it too if you can without attracting the giants up there or at their base to the west, but not take the Forge and Turtle until you calmly establish your economy, the population is full, army completely researched, Full healed then you go straight past the Forge and attack the giant base to the west, the one with the Healing Fountain, trying as much as possible to go unnoticed by the units defending the Forge, it is also possible to do this with transport ships, taking care with Jomungard Elver and knowing that the chance to attract the attention of forge defenders are practically the same.

After destroying the West base, heal your units, reinforce the army and take the Forge, while taking the Forge build an advanced base and make units non-stop. After taking the forge, you will find that it is not only easier, but practically impossible not to destroy the giant base to the north. When you destroy the base to the north, the mission is won.

Remember that Skadi and her divine power of freezing is your best friend. At this stage, the giants have that Hell Tech to get the MUs be ready instantly, then freeze the armies, then destroy the temples and other unit producing buildings, ignoring frozen units completely. In the Nordic campaign there is generally no lack of favor, so there is enough for the units and Divine powers without being a concern.

It's not unbalanced, it requires you to apply very "thinking outside the box" strategies. You can't win that mission on moderate or above by playing "normally". You gotta cheese the mission. There are several ways to do so.

Its almost impossible in titan if you don't destroy their base first. Destroy the temples on their north base first before securing the forge.

Will do that next time but good ol' brute force just barely let me do it this time haha

Really tough mission but I did it at the second attempt. Get a couple of TC's down, build a docks to the west and wall off the north eastern section. Start amassing a large army and then gradually work your way through the left and central portions. You may have to repel a few waves before moving off. Build on the go so you don't have to waste time bringing reinforcements from your base. Destroy their north western base, get another TC down and then ensure you have plenty of units and siege and make a push beyond the forge. You must destroy all their buildings in that area else they will spawn havoc on either side.

Don't worry if a few slip through the net and get your main base though as you should have enough to see the mission through. Ensure you destroy all the buildings so the AI doesn't spawn in more units after the forge too and then see off any remainders. Big mistake some people make is focusing too hard on enemy units rather than the buildings and then it becomes never ending.
