Panthon suggestions: India and Japan
Mostly Japan that pantheon would be nice, and it would be cool to have a naval and melee focused set.

mean while India would be really good for a Calvary focused one aka Elephants That and multi headed king cobra unit would be cool. Think that is from India.

whats wrong with japan? don't like the Yokai?

India has some good mythology and you rarely see it in games.

Would rather have Aztecs do to their heavy religion and the sacrifice for favor mentality. more expensive the unit you sacrifice the more favor it gives. Sacrifice a hero for a large boost.

Also quetzalcoatl main god would be fun, flying snakes.

Nothing wrong with Japan, I just don't like to see weeb stuff infused into every game I play.

India is interesting though.

That is a bad reason to not want it though, that is not wanting something because it might attract like a small amount of idiots.

Sorry we already have furries from half the gods.

Genuine question: why does everyone seem to want Aztecs in the game? They are from the 14th century, why would they end up in a game about antiquity when there are actual super old American cultures that would fit better?
Rhalius 27 sep, 2024 @ 4:24
Japan would be good to make China less isolated and they have plenty of familiar mythological creatures to work with. And a strong familiar mythology is what will sell. That and Japan tends to be a popular playable option in historic strategy games too.

Aztecs would be a poor pick since their most familiar mythological creature, the feathered serpent, is already there with the Egyptians.
They also have no cavalry, no ships, no siege. They lack in too many categories, if they want to add a meso american civ, it should be an earlier one too I think. There is bound to be one with a richer mythology.

Though for me Celts would be the first pick.
Strong mythology with werewolves, fairies, goblins and much more familiar creatures, something interesting can be done with their druids and chariots too. They would be very different from the Norse and make them less isolated too.

Babylonians or persians could also be good to have.
Jäveln 27 sep, 2024 @ 4:27
think aztecs would be interesting with a sacrifice mechanic to gain favor and it had some weird gods

Well I don't want the good old AoM that way , altered with new stuff. If they want new stuff ,they should simply make an AoM2.

The Chinese already were a bad idea for the definitive edition.

Yay Mayan would make more sense, but it is more do to the Aztecs having a vibrant mythology and potential systems that match the games.

Celts, yeah werewolves would be fun, a unit that can swap between a standard and myth unit. Just imagine it in its default form it looks like their standard melee unit, but can swap to wolf form at the push of a button, at the cost of favor, and while turning back is free you can only do it after the unit gets a kill.
