Chinese mythology changes a lot depending on the period, current day our practices is a hodgepodge of old folk religion, Confucianism, Daoism and Buddhism

Which oddly enough means Wukong would fit perfectly in the minor gods for the final age up.
they can easily show that shifting lore with the minor gods.
