Hot take
I was gonna sit here and type a whole essay about how all these gods need their technologies swapped for different ones because some of the technologies they get don't make sense for their starting passives, and while that may be true, i just wanna talk about Ra in specific. I love the Egyptian pantheon in this game. Its different, they're strong, cool myth units, interesting infantry, etc. However, for Ra at least, the tech tree don't make sense.

Just incase no one knows what Ra does, here are his passives:
Focus: Migdol Stronghold units and Empowerment
-Laborers gather berries 25% faster
-+15% Migdol Stronghold unit hit points
-Pharaoh-empowered Monuments also empower nearby buildings (70% efficiency of Pharaohs)
-Priests can Empower (70% efficiency of Pharaohs)

All of those are great but i also believe either Isis or Set could benefit more from the berry gathering more than Ra but that's besides the point.

Now we get into the tech tree. So stage 2, Ra can choose between Bast and Ptah. Bast increases wood and food production as well as eclipse which increases myth unit damage for a time. Ptah gives you barracks unit upgrades and gives a teleport ability. While both of these are fine, i believe Ra should get access to Anubis instead of Bast. Anubis gives you a power to summon snakes and a buff to your spearmen, but he also gives you a buff to your monument auto gather work rate. He doesn't really need the resource gather rate buffs from Bast because all you need to do is buff a monument and all your buildings that are in range are Pharaoh buffed. Coupled with the monument buff from Anubis, I feel that's more worth and just over all better for Ra in general.

Stage 3 is always a fun time fine but i wish the buffs for the Stronghold units were better.

Stage four is the worst of them all. You get to choose between Osiris and Horus. Nothing wrong with Osiris, he's great. He buffs Camel rider HP and Damage, the Sons of Osiris are OP, and the mummy is dope. However, I don't know why Ra even gets Horus as a choice. All Horus does is give you End Tier Infantry unit upgrades and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ myth unit. Meanwhile Isis gets Thoth, who seems essential for someone whose main purpose is Stronghold units. What does Thoth do you might ask? Well first he gives you Valley of the Kings, which while the Stronghold is empowered, it sets the rate for DOUBLE TRAIN CHANCE to 1.00. He also gives you the only buff to War elephants called Tusks oof Apedemak which makes them stronger, cheaper, and reduce their population cost. Like what does Isis need that for?

Basically all I'm saying Ra needs to trade Ptah and Horus for Anubis and Thoth with Isis.

Ra got the bonus to berry gathering, mostly because Ra needed a small buff,
and also because most Ra players tend to go farms extra early,
so they often completely ignored the berries.
Ra players usually go for Ptah, because of the cheaper farms upgrade,
so that they could do the early farm build; and since Ptah got a small nerf,
going for Bast, with Ra, is made more viable now.

Sobek and Sekhmet both got buffed:
Locust GP got a wider AoE, resulting in more (potential) damage.
Petsuchos got extra bonus damage vs myth,
and now deals divine damage instead of crush damage. (a BIG buff to petsuchos)
And Scarabs now deal more crush damage: 75 instead of 55, so also a very decent buff.

And since Ra has access to both Sekhmet and Sobek, Ra gets big buffs in general,
especially since he is good at "fast heroic" builds;
and thus Ra should be more powerful.
Meanwhile, the buff to Locusts/Petsuchos makes Sobek more used by Isis players,
and the buff to Scarabs should make Sekhmet more used by Set players.
So overall, id say the latest patch was done quite well.

You need to keep in mind that switching minor gods for Ra,
also means that you need to switch them for Isis and/or Set.
(Otherwise, 2 major gods would have access to the same minor gods;
once a 4th Egyptian major god is added, this could be done though)

Removing Ptah for Ra would be a HUGE nerf to Ra; and i already explained why above.
Anubis also just doesnt fit for Ra, (thematically)
and since Ra already has the best empowering mechanic,
to get the most favor income, (potentially)
Isis/Set could use Anubis' upgrade to increase favor income much more;
Giving this to Ra, could make Ra's favor income way too high, and unbalanced,
especially since Ra already has the best economy of the 3 Egyptian major gods.

Switching Horus to Isis and Thoth to Ra could actually be a good idea.
Horus is the son of Isis and Osiris, so it makes sense that Isis should get Horus.
Thoth would indeed be more fitting for Ra, (
but adding Thoth to Ra, could make Ra quite OP. At least, in age 4.
(extra powerful migdol units, + chance for free migdol units + an even stronger economy...)

But since Ra has been a bit underpowered,
and Isis has been a little bit overpowered,
(with GP blocking monuments, and eclipse/serpents + ancestors combos)
switching Horus and Thoth, to Isis and Ra, (resptectively) could actually work.

Im making a mod where i switch around some minor gods (among other things)
so i will add this idea to my mod (switching Horus and Thoth, to Isis and Ra)

RA is bad just because of his god powers are weak RA win rate globally is the worst
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

They meant swapping Bast for Anubis, not Ptah. I agree swapping Ptah would be a huge nerf for Ra. I think swapping Bast for Anubis would be interesting for sure, but in saying that doing so would mean all 3 major gods have access to Anubis (You mention 2 major gods do, which is currently the case) and only 1 has access to Bast (Isis). You would have to give Bast to another major god and Set doesn't want to trade Anubis (OR Ptah for that matter) for her.

This needs to happen. I never understood why Isis got Thoth instead of Horus. He's her son for crying out loud. That, and Ra's focus being Migdol units should get Thoth for the stronger elephants. It made sense balance wise in Legacy because VotK was straight up busted there, but it got reworked in Retold to be a shell of what it once was. There's no good reason why they can't do the swap now. Isis also doesn't have a clear offensive niche, so giving her the option to get stronger Barracks units plays in her favour (pun intended) as well.
