and also because most Ra players tend to go farms extra early,
so they often completely ignored the berries.
Ra players usually go for Ptah, because of the cheaper farms upgrade,
so that they could do the early farm build; and since Ptah got a small nerf,
going for Bast, with Ra, is made more viable now.
Sobek and Sekhmet both got buffed:
Locust GP got a wider AoE, resulting in more (potential) damage.
Petsuchos got extra bonus damage vs myth,
and now deals divine damage instead of crush damage. (a BIG buff to petsuchos)
And Scarabs now deal more crush damage: 75 instead of 55, so also a very decent buff.
And since Ra has access to both Sekhmet and Sobek, Ra gets big buffs in general,
especially since he is good at "fast heroic" builds;
and thus Ra should be more powerful.
Meanwhile, the buff to Locusts/Petsuchos makes Sobek more used by Isis players,
and the buff to Scarabs should make Sekhmet more used by Set players.
So overall, id say the latest patch was done quite well.

You need to keep in mind that switching minor gods for Ra,
also means that you need to switch them for Isis and/or Set.
(Otherwise, 2 major gods would have access to the same minor gods;
once a 4th Egyptian major god is added, this could be done though)
Removing Ptah for Ra would be a HUGE nerf to Ra; and i already explained why above.
Anubis also just doesnt fit for Ra, (thematically)
and since Ra already has the best empowering mechanic,
to get the most favor income, (potentially)
Isis/Set could use Anubis' upgrade to increase favor income much more;
Giving this to Ra, could make Ra's favor income way too high, and unbalanced,
especially since Ra already has the best economy of the 3 Egyptian major gods.
Switching Horus to Isis and Thoth to Ra could actually be a good idea.
Horus is the son of Isis and Osiris, so it makes sense that Isis should get Horus.
Thoth would indeed be more fitting for Ra, (
but adding Thoth to Ra, could make Ra quite OP. At least, in age 4.
(extra powerful migdol units, + chance for free migdol units + an even stronger economy...)
But since Ra has been a bit underpowered,
and Isis has been a little bit overpowered,
(with GP blocking monuments, and eclipse/serpents + ancestors combos)
switching Horus and Thoth, to Isis and Ra, (resptectively) could actually work.
Im making a mod where i switch around some minor gods (among other things)
so i will add this idea to my mod (switching Horus and Thoth, to Isis and Ra)
as usual stavroz comes in with the amazing post
They meant swapping Bast for Anubis, not Ptah. I agree swapping Ptah would be a huge nerf for Ra. I think swapping Bast for Anubis would be interesting for sure, but in saying that doing so would mean all 3 major gods have access to Anubis (You mention 2 major gods do, which is currently the case) and only 1 has access to Bast (Isis). You would have to give Bast to another major god and Set doesn't want to trade Anubis (OR Ptah for that matter) for her.
This needs to happen. I never understood why Isis got Thoth instead of Horus. He's her son for crying out loud. That, and Ra's focus being Migdol units should get Thoth for the stronger elephants. It made sense balance wise in Legacy because VotK was straight up busted there, but it got reworked in Retold to be a shell of what it once was. There's no good reason why they can't do the swap now. Isis also doesn't have a clear offensive niche, so giving her the option to get stronger Barracks units plays in her favour (pun intended) as well.
