AOM Retold Premium Edition launch problem

Hi, I bought the premium edition, but when I want to launch the game, it loads for 3/4 seconds, then nothing, and the launch button resets to normal (Play). I uninstalled the game, and installed it again. But I don't understand, if you can help me.

you need to install latest C++ redist pack from Microsoft. If its already installed just hit repair in the installation wizard. Restart your PC afterwards and the game will work.

For a lot of players (like me) this just doesn't work. The devs ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, and they need to fix their broken game.

The temporary solutuon is to delete a folder belonging to AoM from C:/users/... lemme see if i find the post

When you find that folder, delete it. Or at least just rename it temporarily and then get into the game and try again.

I had the same problem. I fixed it disabling the overlay from Ge Force Experience. You can find it in Settings >> General

It happened to me when I installed it first. Then I closed Steam, restarted my computer and it started working. I don't really know why it happened, but it's now fixed.

AoM Retold Initialization Failed Error

I had the same issue, but I'm using Xbox Game Pass. The error seems to be all over the place.

Steps I Took to Resolve the Issue

1. Disabled Nvidia Overlay
2. Reinstalled VCRedist
3. Deleted the Documents folder
4. Added the game to Firewall and Windows Security System
5. Disabled Windows 10 Realtime Protection
6. Ran as Admin
7. Took ownership of all files via third-party software
8. Restarted the PC multiple times
9. Enabled Developer Mode
10. Reinstalled the game

Even after all these steps, NOTHING worked.

Best solution?

Remove the game from your library and get a free mind until the dumb dev figure out that issue

I tried everything on that list and none of it worked because the issue on my end is AVX related, my CPU is too old and it doesn't support it while the game does.

2024 and I still to have to find way to launch game :(

Heya, try closing any software overlays that you may have running in the background, in my case I needed to close MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner Statistics Server to get the game to launch. I suspect some form of anti-cheat is detecting these overlays and preventing the game from starting.

September 24th and none of these fixes have worked. I take it they still haven't found a true fix for the game.
