For a lot of players (like me) this just doesn't work. The devs ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, and they need to fix their broken game.
Quoting from another user:
You need to find the folder on your c drive located in
C/users/your username/documents/games/age of mythology retold
When you find that folder, delete it. Or at least just rename it temporarily and then get into the game and try again.
This doesn't work either.
I had the same issue, but I'm using Xbox Game Pass. The error seems to be all over the place.
1. Disabled Nvidia Overlay
2. Reinstalled VCRedist
3. Deleted the Documents folder
4. Added the game to Firewall and Windows Security System
5. Disabled Windows 10 Realtime Protection
6. Ran as Admin
7. Took ownership of all files via third-party software
8. Restarted the PC multiple times
9. Enabled Developer Mode
10. Reinstalled the game
Even after all these steps, NOTHING worked.
Remove the game from your library and get a free mind until the dumb dev figure out that issue
didn't work for me :(
