Affordable RTS games?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if there were any affordable alternatives to AoM? Despite it being a big part of my childhood, it's a bit out of my price range currently, but I really need a nostalgic RTS fix right now as I'm going through a tough time right now. Anyone have any suggestions for RTS $10 or under?

try ''Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War'' (whew thats was a mouthful). i used to play it as a kid during the time that i had traded in my AoM disk. its currently abandon-ware and you can download it for free on moddb

I do not know the current price, but Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds isn't expensive.
If you like both Star Wars and the old AoE2, it's worthy it.

Ahh nice I've never heard of GB. I played the hell out of EAW when I was young though and enjoyed it.

It depends, someone may be more willing to spend 20 for a whole collection of games if they're not feeling up for spending 30 on one.

I haven't played it extensively, but "Beyond All Reason" (BAR for short), is a free RTS in the style of supreme commander and has an active community. Trying it out won't cost you a penny. Many of the older heavily discounted games don't have an active multiplayer player base, so you'd be stuck in single player mode.

Rusted Warfare is $4.99. GREAT RTS. Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is $12.99. Northgard is on sale for $7.49. 9-Bit Armies: A Bit Too Far is on sale for $14.99. Kingdoms and Castles is $14.99 and also very good. There are so many good, cheap ones out there and these kinds of games go on sale all the time. Enjoy!

I've just remembered, StarCraft Brood War is free at Battle.net.
You'll have to pay to get the remastered graphics but the older version is free.
