I'm posting this here as well because this seems to be a common fix for a lot of issues for the game launching and connecting to the online servers.
Firstly for your issue, you're going to want to make sure all your drivers are up to date, then you want to make sure the game is installed properly so I would verify the integrity of the game Cash aid just in case something got messed up. Definitely try restarting your computer in between doing that and trying to launch just to make sure everything is saved and finalized.
Next, I recommend running a ccleaner. If you don't have it, you probably should because it helps with a lot of issues like this that get stuck in temporary files and such like that.
Make sure the game is not being blocked by your firewall

- Install the latest C++ redistributable (ARM64 version)
- Run Steam and the game in admin mode
- Disable VPN
- And of course update everything to latest version (OS / drivers and so on)
I also looked through the game installation folder and found files specifically for ARM64 in a folder called runtime, so it looks like it is actually supposed to be ARM64 optimized.
I was able to stream the game from my desktop thats currently in another country, but with a gigantic lag and potato resolution, in case anyone wonders why my playtime is 12 hours (actually just 30 minutes, didnt exit the game on the host when quitting)
Thanks, there is no such folder on my computer though, looks like the game quits before it gets to writing anything there.
Age of Mythology Retold
Worth a shot
Well, I tried and no luck. I guess I just have to wait for the first patch at this point. A bit annoying since I paid extra for this chance to play it early, but then again, I always knew ARM is not the best choice for gaming.
Most games runs perfectly though, so had a hope. especially since this is coming from Microsoft who have been very vocal about their new ARM emulation being optimized for games, and even showing off Baldurs Gate 3 as proof how well it works.
Oh well, noone told the AOMr team I guess... Or perhaps its not ARM related seeing how many others has issues on regular chipsets...
Hi,
I've got the same problem with my Mac M1, I've tried using UTM to use Windows but the game won't launch on Steam...
If you find a solution or if someone uses this method and it works, I'd like to hear about it.
