Any way to single out units from a group?

I noticed that when I select a large group of units, for example, 20 hoplites, 10 toxotes, and 10 hippokins, sometimes I want to single out just the hoplites from that group, but I can't figure out how. You used to be able to in the old game by just clicking the unit type from the group, but now you can't. I know that you can double click and it will select all of the same type, but sometimes you don't want to get all the units in the surrounding area, too.

In the UI bottom left should be an icon which you can click and only have that type of unit selected.

I don't have the game and have never played the previous iteration of this game, but usually rts allows you to select all units of a single type by control+clicking that unit (either portrait to select from the selection or on screen by clicking on the physical unit). you could try that

Thanks for the help, guys! Shift+click did the trick. Inversely control+click removes the unit from the group. Thank you!
