Aggressive anticheat
I am never going to play multiplayer but not being able to even start the game because i have a trainer program open is kind of weird.
It isnt even connecting with the game it is just open because of other singleplayer games i play with cheats.

Seems you can have something as innocuous as HRW Monitor installed, and Retold still refuses to start. LMAO.

Good. I wish all games had aggressive anticheat.

Even for singleplayer? You do know that not many people are THAT interested in playing multiplayer right?

Besides, if I'm spending some hard-earned cash in a game, I'm sure I should be able to do what I dadgum want with it.

Anyway it would be good to have more details about the anti cheat in use, since some of them are really invasive
Jazzratoon 2 SEP 2024 a las 6:26
Why would you need a cheat engine like a trainer when a single player has cheats already built it?

The game has in-built cheats where you can summon UFOs, why would need extra cheat engines?

According to the OP's posts, the cheat engine wasn't even for Age of Mythology Retold. He had some other singleplayer game that he was running the cheat engine for.

Trying to argue why intrusive programs on your computer are bad is a lost cause, with people that run 2-3 programs on boot for their LEDs alone. It's a good post for the developers only.

Reading through these comments. We are absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as a gaming community if this is the general consensus.

1. No anti cheat can fully stop cheaters. Best way to do it is manually by an admin.
2. Where does the line between cheat and mod become blurred? What if I want to increase the model size, change unit cap, make certain units move or attack faster? By not allowing "cheats" you are not allowing mods.
3. Why do you care if someone cheats in singleplayer? WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥???

These have to be comments from zoomers right? People who never experienced the golden era of PC gaming from around 1993 to 2007.

to cheat in singleplayer? Thats what trainers are for.

Out of curiosity - why don't you just use the ingame cheats then?
they desactivate achivement sadly, in rts i use wemod to be able to play casually, i hate being pressured , but its fine, im playing the game in standard mode, its not that bad but i will never be able to do the game in hardest mode without a trainer for sure, haha, yep, im not the best gamer for rts game

Because there's no Unlimited Population, I enjoy sending a huge swarm of low-tier human soldiers into battle, watching them fall in droves, suffering massive casualties, and then finally achieving victory.

There are official cheats and mods for the game. Go, use them, summon a canadian laser bear.

The only reason to run Cheat Engine or any kind of trainer in this game is for cheating in MP. So anticheat seems to work exactly as intended.

I used cheat engine to increase my FOV in Dark Souls 3 but ok. Live in your fantasy world.

Have you tried not to cheat? You realize this game is build-in cheats, right? Why would you use shady trainers which are usually filled with malware and even worse like trojans.

Because the Age of Empires games and also Age of Mythology are quite known for their cheats.

The developers themselves even added this page on the website with all relevant cheats: https://support.ageofempires.com/hc/en-us/articles/26890202481300-Cheats-for-Age-of-Mythology-Retold

This would be the case if AoM R don't have extensive cheat. They have a lot of cheat that if you search a little it pretty much cover almost anything unless ofc you want to cheat through the campaign and still get the medal

Heck they even allow modding so your argument is even more invalid

These points are moot. In singleplayer game I will cheat however I want. Anything else is plain anticonsumer action.

Their game, their rules.

I know about the in-game cheats but the problem isnt that i cant cheat it is that the game can detect a program that is not even being actively used and prevents the game from starting.
And i agree that they have the right to have anticheat software but if you aren't even using anything activley for the game the anticheat should not detect anything, if you then connect a cheat software it can close the game all it wants and it would be fine.
