Whataboutism? These are straight up facts. People ARE suffering in countries all over the world, some of them BECAUSE of religion. But do Christians care enough to do anything about it? Nope, Forcing their ideology on others is far more important than doing something that actually matters and ACTUALLY aligns with ACTUAL Christianity. which is Ironic, because Jesus didn't believe in forcing others to follow him, people just did it because they chose to believe in him.
Christianity just wouldn't work. for a number of reasons...
1. It's a Monotheism not a Polytheism. Meaning There'd only be one Tech Tree, one god, no minor deities to age up, and one with only one if any myth units, none of whom can attack because "Killing is Bad" in Christianity... which reminds me....
2. "Thou Shall Not Kill" is literally one of the ten commandments. so not only would a Christian Civ make ZERO sense in the world of AoM, but it couldn't fight back if it ever got targeted by any of the more aggressive players/bots.
3. There'd be nothing to it. Christians (Back when they actually bothered to read the bible and abide by it to the letter) Cannot eat fish, as it's mentioned in one verse that anything "that lives in the sea and has scales shall not be eaten, doing so is a sin", although I paraphrased this quote, it is in the bible. This means no fishing ships, and since killing is also off the table that means no war ships either, An there are no aquatic mythological creatures in the bible so no sea monsters either (not that it would matter, no killing means they'd basically just be water scouts). No killing also means no soldiers, and there fore no Barracks or fortresses of any sort. You'd have temples, but as we established earlier you'd only get one myth unit (probably angels) and they cant fight because again "Killing is bad". So what you're left with are Villagers, A Myth unit that cant fight, Heroes who can't fight, a bunch of buildings that do nothing, a few farms and gathering points, Towers that do nothing, and walls... Does that sound fun? No? good...
So let's just stop this nonsense. this is obviously a troll, nothing more.
You need Jesus.
It is functionally identical for some sailor to pray to Poseidon than it is for him to pray to Saint Nicholas.
Because we all know that commandment has never been broken (even in the very tome that established it)...
And I'll do the same., He's been dead for centuries dude
Still a Monotheism, and still bound by the Ten Commandments. That's the Problem with Christianity, no mater which Sec you choose. And even when broken, its usually by followers of god, in the name of god. It just won't work.
Minor gods: Saints etc
Myth units: angels are fine
Titans: God himself (or Jesus or the holy spirit depending on what your major god is)
If anyone, ANYONE, can do a mod with it, I would be happy to pay
Don't confuse the sin of man with what Christianity preaches. Also, Christianity does not simply preach the ten commandments.
“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment."
Tell that to the Christians who think there's an old man living in the sky, who rides on clouds like Son Goku.
Historian James Dunn writes: "Today nearly all historians, whether Christians or not, accept that Jesus existed". In a 2011 review of the state of modern scholarship, Bart D. Ehrman wrote: "He certainly existed, as virtually every competent scholar of antiquity, Christian or non-Christian, agrees."
Fun fact: the old man in the sky trope is actually dogmatically incorrect and an inaccurate portrayal of God (the Father). The only dogmatic portrayal for the Christian God is Jesus Christ. If we're portraying an Old Testament scene, then God is portrayed as Jesus with while hair.
There are plenty of portrayals of the "Old Man" Father, which is silly. And always funny to spot in the wild.
