WASD Camera?

So uhhh, there's no built-in WASD camera movement? Who even uses arrow keys or mouse to pan cameras these days?

u lose functions either way wasd is used for hot keys in every rts

everyone uses mouse to move camera lol its the best way to do it unless you would rather not use hot keys

Yeah this is a refund for me. In AOE 4, you could easily remap the grid keys and by default Alt-WASD worked for movement. I use WASD to move camera and grid keys via Alt-WASD. In Age of Myth each grid binding is a separate entry, so you have to reassign 5-6 things per key. And then the ALT-A and probably others are already bound to something.

i did it right quick, rebinded all the alt and control ones, took like 10 mins max lol

Yeah I've rebound too, but I'm pretty sure in AoE4 there was a dedicated setting to change to WASD without having to rebind cameras and other functions 🤔

Then just rebind those other functions as well. This is a non-issue. RTS games almost unanimously use wasd for controls, hotkeys, ETC and not for camera movement. Those are the arrow keys

Yes, ALT+WASD in AoE IV work fine. I don't understand how people use the mouse. Yes it works, but you lost SO MUCH TIME everytime, that's just insane. The mouse need to access to a border, so everytime your mouse is in the screen, you lost the time to get to a border. If you move left, click something and want to move back to the right, your mouse need to do 2 times the screen, it's so stupid and a waste of time.

While using WASD, your mouse and movement become 2 seperate things, it's so much faster, and you still have access to Q for built house, F for farm, CTRL, Shift and number for group. With the arrows, you lost most of the keyboard. To be honest, who use WASD other than the camera? It's for moving units and formation.... You can easily do that with the mouse.

I spent 3 hours rebinding everything to have a proper WASD. You might say that it's better to use mouse over border but this is just so awfull. It's even more difficult with a 21/9 screen like mine.

I can't find the file where it is saved (It must be somewhere) but if you find it, I would be glad to share mine.

Don't spend hours just remap wasd lol. If you find you need whatever they were bound to just bind it then to something else.
