It's a fantasy builder with flying horses, Medusa, and thunderbolts coming from out of the sky. It's not Doom.

I love gore but sometimes a game simply doesn't need it.

original AOM and even ehanced had no blood, design choice because, at the time, they were pushing for a more 3d version of the game, adding blood was cut for performance reasons. a 3d rts in circa early y2k was pretty wild in terms of graphical intensity. i understand this isnt the case in todays times but, they just, perserved this fact?

AoM absolutely had blood, it was present in the corpse decay and some myth unit effects.
The myth units that did have blood related abilities were either quietly changed to "acid" (carcinos), or the ability was changed outright (lampades's asper blood now changes enemies to chickens instead of making lampades aoe burst on death)

It didnt, I played it right up until Retold came out, there are some faint traces of it inside the ''skeletons'' but that's it.

I wish there was blood that being said, just makes it more...gritty.

That's literally what I was referring to with the corpse decay.
Myth unit blood being a different color doesn't change it from being blood either.
