Bluetooth Audio issues - Self Resolved.
Firstly - BT headset. Launch game, massive continuous "booooooooooooooop" from both ears. Headset lags and is unresponsive (ANC switch and power button) until I exit the game. At this time, the noise stops and operation returns to normal. This was fixed with disabling "Handsfree Telephony" as per some other posts.
Secondly - With the above fixed I now get the correct menu audio, music and effects. However, the audio stream sounds like I am trying to play a 192kbps MP3 on a 486.
Bear in mind this does not happen with any other game, nor do I have any other issues whatsover with the game. I was privvy to the last playtest round without such issues. The game did crash out as I was losing a match, but that's not related to this.

Update: The issue resolved itself, it seems.

Yes same is happening to me. Bluetooth Bose headphones works with other games on steam, Netflix etc but when I try to run this game with headphones connected, the game loads - I can hear the music for about 2 seconds and it cuts off then freezes. I have to restart the computer because it then refuses to play sound at all even when I disconnect headphones and restart game. I don't even know what to make of this issue.

Oddly, I played it again the following day without an issue. No changes made.

I had this problem (of audio being completely cut out) before with my Bose QC45 bluetooth headphones. I had to go to audio settings and change the microphone to the webcam mic for it to work. However, now the audio quality is so bad. It's like it's mono audio or very low bitrate - it's so annoying. This is only an AoM issue. All other games work fine!

did you change it in the game or in the windows ? i want to fix it as well.

I think i fixed it by doing it the same but i had to disable some other audio forcefully and re enabling them multiple time. nice

The problem in AoM is that they start audio streaming with default microphone device, which is your Bluetooth input audio device. So, as @RuberHelios pointed out, I had to change the `Audio Input Device` in SOUND settings to any other mic - laptop mic / wired headphones / virtual microphone. I don't know why they record input audio from Mic even in the main menu.

Once is done, make sure you selected your Stereo Bluetooth audio device in Windows sound settings (not Hands-Free AG Audio). Cause Bluetooth Headphones can't work both as input mic and stereo output. Only either as stereo output (usually 48kHz) or input mic + 16kHz output. (NOTE: I'm on Windows 10, on Windows 11 it is a bit different)
