Hopefully the quick match time to play will go down soon.
Even ranked can take up to 5 min sometimes but it usually finds a game within 1-3 min for me.
Stop with the doom and gloom, not everyone is a competitive player.
lol what? 25% unlocked First Blood achievement. Only 56% played the first Trident mission. Those without this first Trident mission achievement probably never booted up the game yet, waiting on weekend play time.
This means that HALF of the player base wet their feet in PvP, and it is a server side issue, not lack of players.
ACTIVE RTS player base has always been PvP and Co-Op to a lesser extent. Are you telling us that AoE2 and AoE4 peaking ~20k and ~10k respectively on a daily basis are playing campaign missions? At any given moment AoE2 logs 100k+ active team ranked players and AoE4 logs ~100k team ranked players each season as well. Are they playing campaign missions they beat 3 years ago? Come on, now.
This is a serious problem on the server side.
No, because skirmish has always been what people play in an RTS game, campaigns, then PvP. If the AI in an RTS is good enough to feel like a real player, most people rather do that than go against an actual player because more often then not in PvP players will get cheesed or rushed whereas the AI USUALLY dosent/is predictable in its rush.
People play RTS's for fun, less so for competitiveness, its been a known industry fact that a significantly small portion of an active RTS playerbase plays PvP, the rest are campaign and skirmish.
And? Is that supposed to mitigate what I've mentioned? Most? Tell that to 25% vs 56% in achievement that I mentioned. Almost half played MP.
99% of RTS players that stick around after beating SP are MP players. You are completely disregarding the seasonal ranked population for AoE2 and AoE4,
Hundreds of thousands are dipping their feet in ranked every season. The real number of people coming back for multiplayer every 3 months is high.
It's an observable industry fact, and people most definitely play for competitiveness as well as fun. Pretending as if multiplayer portions of the game is not that important is like arguing against publicly available numbers here. They're the ones that actually keep the numbers up, keep the game relevant for a long time, and ultimately drive further sales.
You trying to mitigate OP's concerns for the state of MP by saying that many are playing SP right now doesn't make sense.
what dosent make sense is how personal youre taking this lol, The game just came out yesterday and you wanna go off acheivements numbers only vs facts, despite there being a tonne of factors that play into acheivments being unlocked (mods being a huge one as they disable them by default. I have several games where i poured hundreds of hours into the game and havent even gotten 2nd or 3rd unlockable acheivments due to mods always being enabled for me, that fact can absolutely be used here)
Regardless, RTS is seeing a subtle and slow resurgence, lets both just be happy the genre isnt gunna die in the early 2000's and remain in obscurity, its seeing a new love finally.
