While it would be something, if you let your enemy complete a wonder you are likely already behind, and if not you just didnt try enough to stop its construction
The whole purpose of a Wonder Age is that the one that reaches it, wins by brute force afterwards. You are essentially on a timer anyways, at that point.
You must actually not get attacked with enough strength that you need to replace units, to even get a Wonder.
Yea that is my point.
Tried Conquest doesn't seem any different
Oh you're an internet troll lol.
If wonders do break the game they simply need to be balanced out.
Interestingly, they are so expensive that I've won games where an enemy has created a Wonder because they spent so many resources on it that they didn't have the military to properly defend it. Choosing to build one, should the game last long enough for it to be an option, is a calculated move that isn't always beneficial. Especially if multiple opponents are still in the game. I find it an interesting and fun element, but game options are always a good thing.
They cheat on skirmish for sure. Even if everyone is set at 0%, the AI by default is already ahead at 30%, meaning they will be faster at you at building anything.
At that rate I use my god powers to destroy wonders because yes, myth units and fimbulwinters go on hardcore right after.
It's not trolling.
I play exclusively coop with friends against AI and we've come back from extreme+ AI making wonders, so no, that's not true for all cases.
You may play differently but that's the beauty of it, we can all play different ways and have fun.
And they're absolutely right. OP is just asking for an option to disable something, not whether their strategy is best or whatever.
