Should be called Remastered, not Retold.

I bought this under the impression that it would be a new standalone game with new campaigns. After playing the first two scenarios, this is simply a remastered version of the old game. I'm still keeping it, but wanted to start a thread in case anyone else was confused on this.

I read the shop page for a bit and knew that it was a remaster of the original. I dont really get what you missundertood from the steam shop site? A litle but of reading should have let you know what you are buying into.

@Kirioz, are you implying that if I keep playing, there will be original scenarios?
@Adrian, 'RETOLD' implies new story. Why not just call it 'Remastered' so it's clear?

No it doesn't, absolutely in no way, shape or form does the word retell imply new story LOL
Retelling something literally means exactly that, telling it again

It is completely remade in another engine version, not merely a remaster, it is a remake.
They fully rebuilt the game in the AoE3 version of the Bang! engine.

You are mixing this up. There are Remasters, Remakes, and Re-imaginings. AoM Extended Edition is a Remaster, it took what was there already and updated it. Resident Evil 2 Remake is an example of a Re-imagining as it heavily changes the story, in addition to the updates in graphics and gameplay. Age of Mythology Retold is a Remake. This is when the game is rebuilt from the ground up with new physics, models, mechanics, etc... This game has had every part of it redone in one way or another from a fresh start. They are not re-used assets. They told us it would be a remake, not a re-imagining. I am happy there is FINALLY a game dev who delivered on what they promised. This game is Age of Mythology perfected. If you want to play the remastered version, then you can still get Extended Edition, but no where was it advertised that they would be re-imagining the story.

To be fair, they did deliver with AoE2DE too. This dev actually does deliver what they promise.

you do realise that different would mean taking the SAME story to change it, NOT make a NEW ONE
not to mention there's OR in the sentence on top of that

Or, like in this case, just telling it again. They basically changed nothing except a few details most people even think were upgrades.
The story and characters/events remains COMPLETELY the same.

While i agree with you that it should say remastered not retold. You kinda have to read it because it does say in the writing that its redone. I was also hoping for MORE from them and not just a remaking of the original that said its still fun to replay it remastered, BUT i also agree i wanted more from this series.
