Censorship and wokeness
Skeletons have been removed or altered for the Chinese market. This change is due to cultural sensitivities and regulations in China, where depictions of skeletons and other undead entities are often considered inappropriate or offensive. To comply with these regulations and make the game accessible to Chinese players, developers have adjusted the game's content accordingly. They also removed egyptian mummies being skeletons, they now have normal bodies, tartarian gate is not a skull anymore, they removed some nordic symbols like the rune othala in the spy power because of racism, what do you thing about this? should we really care about chinese market regulations, do they care about us?

We have had political correctness and a narrative more recently of inclusive mediums off the scale.

I'm sixty years of age and can no more repeat upon the numerous valid debates about how things once were and how they have changed.

And yet my friends it matters not a jot. You and I and everyone else are simply passengers on a train into the unknown.
Why let it have free rent in ones head?

Just enjoy the ride and hope for the best.
When I was younger, much younger I would dream of computers of the future.
Did my then dreams come true? No is the answer.
I never gave a thought to how politics of the 'woke' variety could or would interfere with daily entertainment.

Yet it is here, for now.

So I afford the sensible only a few options.
1 ) Refrain from parting with your money until changes are ahoy ( don't however hold your breath).
2 ) Jump on the bandwagon and embrace all woke activity whilst chanting 'Kumbaya'.

3 ) And finally, ignore it all and turn a blind eye and frankly pretend it is the way you wish it to be and get on with living.

Personally I would try number 3 first.
:)
I'm at a point i want to get a very small plot of land maybe an RV and just live far away from everyone.

Lol I hear you.
Fortunately for myself at least I live in rural Tasmania, I emigrated from England many moons ago.
Here my life is in the wilds with studying wildlife. It is my escape my drug of choice.

The nearest escape route to a modern day utopia of escapism from politics of the disease of mind.
Albeit at the bottom of the world.:)

Not true the CCP made wicked strict gaming laws and anything that doesn’t conform to them they’re not allowed to play.
The Germans did a similar thing. I read that they do not allow Swastikas in games about the Nazis. Red flags with a cross are used instead.

German here, yep, can confirm.
However, this was the case until August 2018. Our rating board, the USK, reformed its guidelines and now rates games with swastikas as long as it's not presented in a glorifying way, so basically how the FSK (our rating board for movies) did it decades ago.
With Through the Darkest of Times, there's even a game from Germany dealing with the Third Reich.

Funfact: Wolfenstein 3D was initially banned not because of NS symbols but rather because of its violence. The ban was later upgraded to a "Beschlagnahmung" (= making its purchase illegal as regularly banned games still can't be legally purchased by adults) after a N*zi store offered the game which is quite ironic for an anti-N*zi game.
Needless to say, Wolf 3D is now unbanned. The only Wolfenstein games still waiting to have their ban lifted are RtCW and the 2009 game.

Lets get real, it has reached a point of utter ridiculousness&retardation you are fine&trusted to purchase firearms&alcohol and most households own a car(let it sink in just how much death and destruction smb can inflict using those)... yet God forbid you being given access to free speech(censor&filter everything to the point you can't even talk to another human being in a online strategy game and say: 'blue make some bbc, we need siege to push those castles' because guess what: not even color names are allowed anymore) or even more absurd pretend a scantly dressed man/women in a game is any different(or worse) then what you would encounter at a beach(let alone at the nudist ones)

Then come the whole other can of worms with the government asking for and being granted access to in game chats&lobby's of games... mother of God !! as if any one stuck behind a screen for countless hours on a daily basis is anywhere near being a prime candidate for terrorist acts, about the most terrifying thing smb like that can ever do is forget to take out hes trash for a month and trigger a cockroach infestation in hes entire apartment building.

Oh lets not forget the icing on the cake: being able to get sent to prison in some places (like parts of the UK, US, Canada) for miss-gendering smb... as if somehow anybody should be expected to guess the proper gender of a hippo in a dress with a beard as big as Abe Lincon's !! screw that $hit , all of these diverse folks should go play with themselves or wear a frigging name tag if they expect to be addressed in a specific way.

Call me old fashioned if you want but $hit keeps getting worse by the day as were steadily marching ourselves straight into Orwell's 1984... and i'm ready to bet not even that poor sod could imagine some of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ we already started to experience lately.

Second post:

Its early here in Tasmania and I have just had a thought of what 'we' older generations had to do back in the day.
Now it touches upon a small line I had previously written. Quote: Number 3 ) ' And finally, ignore it all and turn a blind eye and frankly pretend it is the way you wish it to be and get on with living'. End Quote.

That is what we had to do when graphics sound and all was just not anything like today.

I remember playing ( I think it was Alien ) on the ZX Spectrum.
Basically simple objects pretending to be you and the alien.
A maze of which the basic sounds played a huge part.

Now in no way did it look at all interesting when compared to games of today.

Yet my friends I assure you all the imagination did and can fill in the dots.

So what is my final meaning message?

Just cut your own cloth of imagination when playing games that are generically named 'woke' and to hell with it.

Use that same mindset of what was essentially escapism to embrace whatever it is you desire from it.

The old Hammer House Of Horror movies are today almost laughable. Yet I assure you that men women boys and girls perhaps checked under the bed prior to sleeping lol.

So that's it, just a posit from an older gamer.

Is it possible for this thread to be a misinterpretation of the circumstances given that the game is in Beta stage? Is it possible they leave stuff like skeletons for last while Tartarian Gate is in the line of "magma atlantis" theme? Skeletons have never been "scary" to begin with and as far as censorship in China is concerned undead aren't banned - there's tons of chinese movies and videogames with skeletons/zombies/undead.

In China the ban on supernatural is valid only for events happening after the 1930s/1940s. You can still show zombies and skeletons but you need a sci-fi explanation (usually it's "aliens" or lost civilization biotechnology). Furthermore recent years chinese horror productions (both video game movies and tv series) are increasing exponentially.

The only time period I'm not sure the ban applies is the period during WW2 up to 1949 where CCP won against the Kuomintang. "The Mystic Nine" series was a rare case of heavy censorship with respect to the books: no undead, "alien" explanation for supernatural and was moved from late 40s to 1936/1937s. However the (now defunct) MMO game based on the TV series showed zombies and other undead freely. The undead are extremely present in Daomu Biji and Candle in the Tomb media franchises.

Catering to one country and pushing it for the rest of the world, is not only lazy, but disgusting, if this is true.

Especially with the backing of MicroSoft, there should be no censorship in this game for anyone else in the world and the remake should follow the original's art design, not add clothes or w/e current yearisms.

Honestly even the most recently playtest times are very clearly catered towards Asia and the EU community. Not sure if you guys have seen it but the start times are wicked early in the morning pretty much when most people are going to work and it only last for 3 hours a day. The entire North american continent pretty much got the shaft.

MS is good at bowing down to CCP lmao
game is about monsters and men fighting to the death for military supremacy. houses literally burned to the ground, peasants men women and otherwise all slaughtered.

yet they want to tone it down and kiddy it up?
ill pass.
literally playing with kid gloves. say its woke, say its not the CCP. call it whatever you want, its still warfare thats been neutered. completely pointless.

Just don't buy the game. No big deal, you won't miss a thing. All new games are not worth buying with all that woke bs, bugs and dlc policy. You will also learn to refrain from consumer culture and only buy games which you REALLY need. This is not the one. You have your old Age of Mythology. Re-download something you sure to enjoy.

Only 1st is valid. Once you opened eyes and try to close them again, because you didn't like the view, you will still sanely know they are closed and you are just trying to create an illusion.

Good thing is, this has nothing to do with catering to China as explained a dozen times before.
