Lol I hear you.
Fortunately for myself at least I live in rural Tasmania, I emigrated from England many moons ago.
Here my life is in the wilds with studying wildlife. It is my escape my drug of choice.
The nearest escape route to a modern day utopia of escapism from politics of the disease of mind.
Albeit at the bottom of the world.:)
German here, yep, can confirm.
However, this was the case until August 2018. Our rating board, the USK, reformed its guidelines and now rates games with swastikas as long as it's not presented in a glorifying way, so basically how the FSK (our rating board for movies) did it decades ago.
With Through the Darkest of Times, there's even a game from Germany dealing with the Third Reich.
Funfact: Wolfenstein 3D was initially banned not because of NS symbols but rather because of its violence. The ban was later upgraded to a "Beschlagnahmung" (= making its purchase illegal as regularly banned games still can't be legally purchased by adults) after a N*zi store offered the game which is quite ironic for an anti-N*zi game.
Needless to say, Wolf 3D is now unbanned. The only Wolfenstein games still waiting to have their ban lifted are RtCW and the 2009 game.
Then come the whole other can of worms with the government asking for and being granted access to in game chats&lobby's of games... mother of God !! as if any one stuck behind a screen for countless hours on a daily basis is anywhere near being a prime candidate for terrorist acts, about the most terrifying thing smb like that can ever do is forget to take out hes trash for a month and trigger a cockroach infestation in hes entire apartment building.
Oh lets not forget the icing on the cake: being able to get sent to prison in some places (like parts of the UK, US, Canada) for miss-gendering smb... as if somehow anybody should be expected to guess the proper gender of a hippo in a dress with a beard as big as Abe Lincon's !! screw that $hit , all of these diverse folks should go play with themselves or wear a frigging name tag if they expect to be addressed in a specific way.
Call me old fashioned if you want but $hit keeps getting worse by the day as were steadily marching ourselves straight into Orwell's 1984... and i'm ready to bet not even that poor sod could imagine some of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ we already started to experience lately.
Its early here in Tasmania and I have just had a thought of what 'we' older generations had to do back in the day.
Now it touches upon a small line I had previously written. Quote: Number 3 ) ' And finally, ignore it all and turn a blind eye and frankly pretend it is the way you wish it to be and get on with living'. End Quote.
That is what we had to do when graphics sound and all was just not anything like today.
I remember playing ( I think it was Alien ) on the ZX Spectrum.
Basically simple objects pretending to be you and the alien.
A maze of which the basic sounds played a huge part.
Now in no way did it look at all interesting when compared to games of today.
Yet my friends I assure you all the imagination did and can fill in the dots.
So what is my final meaning message?
Just cut your own cloth of imagination when playing games that are generically named 'woke' and to hell with it.
Use that same mindset of what was essentially escapism to embrace whatever it is you desire from it.
The old Hammer House Of Horror movies are today almost laughable. Yet I assure you that men women boys and girls perhaps checked under the bed prior to sleeping lol.
So that's it, just a posit from an older gamer.
In China the ban on supernatural is valid only for events happening after the 1930s/1940s. You can still show zombies and skeletons but you need a sci-fi explanation (usually it's "aliens" or lost civilization biotechnology). Furthermore recent years chinese horror productions (both video game movies and tv series) are increasing exponentially.
The only time period I'm not sure the ban applies is the period during WW2 up to 1949 where CCP won against the Kuomintang. "The Mystic Nine" series was a rare case of heavy censorship with respect to the books: no undead, "alien" explanation for supernatural and was moved from late 40s to 1936/1937s. However the (now defunct) MMO game based on the TV series showed zombies and other undead freely. The undead are extremely present in Daomu Biji and Candle in the Tomb media franchises.
Especially with the backing of MicroSoft, there should be no censorship in this game for anyone else in the world and the remake should follow the original's art design, not add clothes or w/e current yearisms.
yet they want to tone it down and kiddy it up?
ill pass.
literally playing with kid gloves. say its woke, say its not the CCP. call it whatever you want, its still warfare thats been neutered. completely pointless.
Only 1st is valid. Once you opened eyes and try to close them again, because you didn't like the view, you will still sanely know they are closed and you are just trying to create an illusion.
Good thing is, this has nothing to do with catering to China as explained a dozen times before.
