Stop using AI art in video games

Why make the models look prettier and then have somehow worse god portraits? I really wish games would stop remaking classics and making them ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Cool. They did a basic step 1 on listening to us. As much as I love that Arkantos's original voice actor returned, there are still glaring issues.

That does not give justification as to why they lied to us about using hand drawn portraits. I have a gut feeling that they are STILL using AI portraits, and they have gotten better at hiding it.

My trust with the company is broken. I've waited for this game for years. They put the original portraits under a paywall, and they LIED to us about the artwork that sets the tone of the game. Believe me, I was huffing the copium because I was starving for a remake of my childhood game.

However, I don't want to support a company that takes us for idiots. They are banking on us starving for content to turn a blind eye. We make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scene, and only then does anything change. However, this does not fix the trust broken by the ♥♥♥♥ delivered to us earlier.

This company is lazy for not paying their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ artists. This company is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SCUM for lying to us about "hand painted portraits". Yet a lot of us are not seeing any problem with supporting a company willing to lie to excited fans of this amazing game. The company takes our loyalty for granted when we accept that they can falsely advertise that these AI portraits are hand painted. They have the money to hire actual artists, but they are lazy and using us for a quick cash grab. Then they spit in our face by telling us we can pay more to get the original portraits.

In my eyes, they are milking off the nostalgia we have, and how much we've been starving for content. It's a disappointment. It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sad that they are willing to go against steam policy in regards to their AI usage, and we have to wait for steam to do something. That's if the game is reported for it.

My trust is broken, and I am angry that it is with a game I truly do love.

Secondly , good luck trying to convince people that the studio is lazy when they literally did what no studio has ever done when product was 1-2 months away from release.

Game has 92% positive reviews. (out of approximately 4k reviws, nothing crazy but its there) . There is a reason for it.

Enjoy complaining. Rest of us are busy enjoying the game.

The game had all of it's AI art removed. The AOM team did not know that the people they hired to do the art for the characters had used AI. Once they found out they immediately hired different people and redid all of the art for the game.

The AOM team listened to feedback for both the VA and the AI art and people keep going for reason known only to themselves.

Of course you are not required. Question is , why are you lurking at the forums of a game you neither like or own ( and dont plan to ) .

I really don't see the AI art in here. There are, like, 2 portraits total with weird fingers - but even that is not Ai-level bad. At the very least, the god portraits were finalized by human hand.

The actual reason why Ai is so bad with fingers is that human artists it trains upon are also bad with them. Fingers are hard to draw. Always were.

The portraits in general, IMHO, look pretty badass. Except Gaia going through that weird God of War morph.

AoE II definitive edition was AI upscaled to hell & back rather than actually being redone by hand so this doesn't surprise me at all

completely agree. It's sad to see. They can 100% afford to have paid an artist to make art of this quality, if not better. But they take the cheap route. I can understand if games made by a single dev with no company behind them using AI resources and free stock resources. But this is pathetic

The majority of people like ai art. It's the future and there's absolutely nothing you can do to stop it. From what I can see, the ones who complain are the self-interested ones, the artists, because they make less money and advocate the stagnation of technology.
