I agree that Chinese mythology is just not as interesting, but it still has potential, and is the basis for all other East Asian mythologies.
They just need to trim down the bloat with the Chinese civ design, and push it much closer to Bronze Age China, instead of Warring States period.
The worst thing about the original AoM was how pathetically limited the options were, especially compared to AoE2. We need more and interesting options, not less.
The Chinese civ was VERY Late Middle Ages (including rocket troops) in a game where the most advanced stuff is from Alexander's day, a lot of it's myth units were not very unique, but outright copies of stuff the game already had, it had 3 types of Hero units, so you could not even use myth units against them (and yes, they all countered myth units), It's Tech Tree was full of redundancies (like having FOUR melee cavalry type units); and worst of all, it forcefully used nomenclature that immediately shut down potential other civs, like having Cataphracts and Immortals (both of which would much better fit a Persian civ).
I'm a China fan, I love the look of traditional Chinese buildings etc and I also played through the campaign. For me it would be a great shame if the Chinese didn't at least follow suit later. But I have to say I'm purely a single player and I can understand if they're holding the Chinese back for PvP for the time being. I love watching the streams of all the AoM PvP greats and one or two tournaments on Twitch. That's why I'm completely with you if the Chinese don't come into the game until much later. But please let them find their way into the game at some point. ;-)
if anything it should have a new campaign as well for another nation such as the mayans or the babylonians
the introduction of the garbage china dlc was the only mentally unstable thing here bud
Could come back as a Free-LC alongside a DLC?
if you like tropical biome they could've gone and done something mythical about the african contintent or better something with middle/south americas. literally nobody asked for asia especially not since that it came out after the game was dead.
asia was the most diverse one that could be added at that point, african campaign would be too similar to egyptian, in fact theres some african tribal warriors in the egyptian faction already, and theres not a consistent pantheon that collaborates with that too, they are mostly ancestral worship,
but its true that mayan or babylonian or something would make a great addition for more campaigns in the remake, maybe even indian or something
But... Tale of the Dragon was *SO* badly done that I can't imagine fixing it, so it's hardly doing the material justice to keep it.
So... hopefully they either dump it completely or redo it from scratch.
