This is in the AoE3 engine. Meaning it's a remake, not a remaster. They need to redo the code maps and levels from scratch. They could convert art and copy sounds over, but that's not easier or cheaper than creating new models and animations.
The Fact that people can't tell if this is a remake or a remaster at a glance means it's a very faithful remaster, at least visually. I've seen several threads about things that are different, and the only ones I've seen about things being the same, it's people complaining about remasters or developers being unoriginal.

They already added almost nothing to AoM EXTENDED EDITION and overpriced it.

Music is already ok in Extended Edition, UI is ok, only models/textures are little bit outdated

Will they fkup again like they did with that stupid chinese DLC??

They should add some valuable content, more campaign misions with Greece/Norse /Egyptian mythology, nothing else, and spare us stupid woke treatment.

This seems like another price hike BS, Still waiting when AoE4 with DLC come to reasonable price, considering removing from my wishlist.

Not quite. The AoE3 engine is itself an upgraded version of the original AoM engine, so it is very similar under the hood and supports most AoM features out of the box. Stuff like map code is written in the same syntax, it doesn't need to be redone from scratch. Levels I assume would also be ported over, with some fixes and polish.

Art is redone from scratch, at least the models and textures are for sure.

I only hope that active pause will remain in this iteration. Removing it from AOE4 was a definitive mistake for me which made me hate AOE4!

If they have remastered the textures, art and music, that's all that's needed.
Hell, they can just keep the classic texture, just enlarge it, retro texture is in vogue these days.

Unfortunately every modern games are like that, except maybe From Software games and some specifically dark titles.

People used to complain about muh grey and brown but I way prefer that over-satured super bright colors.
