Cut me some slack, I was like, 14 lmao.
then I bought EE, got TOTD for free.
but i got like 10k hours out of it as a kid, and 7k hours out of it on EE/voobly. if I can get another 5k seems like a good deal, way better than buying a movie ticket, or eating in a restaurant. Stop being piss broke
Also buying some expansion DLC doesn't mean buying the same game again. You bought extra content there.
You are just way overreacting. In another thread you also mention to expect a 60$ price for this remaster which is highly unlikely. It will most likely be 20$ like all other DE remasters and with discount for owning EE. So you should expect AoM:Retold will cost you around 15$.
$60 in my currency, not everyone uses YOUR USD, American.
As for overreacting, if they're re-re-releasing an ancient ass game and a fat chunk of the profit lines the pocket of ONE OF THE MOST evil dudes ever, then yeah, I don't think I'm being overly dramatic.
Dude is buying massive tracts of farmland. I think about this sh!t deeper than you, clearly.
Or... Do you think old games should be abandoned forever even if theres a demand?
Or are you just venting about giant corporations?
You know you can just... Not buy products you don't want to buy...
That's not even close to what I'm saying...
I'm saying what's the point other than a cash grab on stupid people with nostalgia that fuels a troubled industry that's creatively bankrupt. Instead of pumping money into another ****ing remake that no one asked for and make something new and fresh?
I looked at the "remake" too. People keep throwing around the phrase "remake the entire game", but it's not. It's not even close. It's the same engine (modified), same gameplay, same structure, same mechanics, same, same, same...
Why not Age of Mythology 2? Y'know, push the IP somewhere? Nope.
Too risky. The shareholders voted no. Let's play it safe and print money off morons who are too short-sighted and braindead to stop pumping money into a cancerous mass.
Because Forgotten Empires is a relatively small studio whose entire thing is improving/remaking/adding to old AoE titles.
World's Edge is an even smaller studio and presumably fully busy between AoE4 & supporting FE with all the other AoE games, and porting things to Xbox.
And Relic made Dawn of War 3 (a new game) which flopped, helped make AoE4 (a new game), which had middling success, followed by Company of Heroes 3 (a new game) which flopped, and then were recently gutted by Sega.
Game development is complicated, especially when the IP is owned by a huge company rather than in-house. You have already touched on many of the issues. RTS is a brutal & niche market to develop for and there are so many failure stories. It doesn't help that most people picked their favourite strategy games a decade or 2 ago of course theres going to be bias towards remakes. Yes it is an industry driven by nostalgia, although I believe there has been an extended effort to use that nostalgia to revive interest in the RTS genre as a whole. Unfortunately most of the recent 'big' RTS's that should have been RTS revivals have been either massive failures or just mediocre successes.
Relic was an embarrassment long before Dawn of War 3 and CoH3. Most people know them simple as "Lelic" cause they're a joke. Always have been. Didn't need an 8-ball to deduce that DoW3 was going to be a dumpster fire neither. They're almost as bad as Creative Assembly, but they have a cute niche.
Look, we're both on the same wavelength on this:
You're spot on about IP rights involving large tumours. There's nothing we can really do about it. Common sense has flown in favour of budgetary concerns. I think people are just tired of getting nickle and dimed for old, rehashed content in an entertainment medium that used to be about the art itself rather than stock price and deadlines.
So I guess you're right. I'm venting; but, if it helps even just one person think critically about another frivolous purchase than **** it. We take those!
There is nothing wrong, that they re-release and sell this game again.
There are XY companies on Steam, who want to sell You their games...
You are supposed to have a free will, and can decide by Yourself, if You buy it or not, You act like somebody is forcing You to but it
Again, there is nothing wrong or "unfair" in this bussiness, there are many people who want this modernised re-release and many "new" people, who have not play, there is nothing stupid about these people
Well, If somobody looks stupid here, it is Y**
Maybe they will make Age of Mythology 2, but it is clever to "revive" original Age of Mythology first
And look at the Age of Empires 2, it has big playerbase, and there is Age of Empires 3 , 4 and Age of Mythology 4
And again, is somebody looks "too short-sighted and braindead" here, it is Y**
There are other people aside of You, who are looking forward for this and will have a fun
I'm sharing my opinion about it. No one is forcing you to read it kid.
You sound like someone who doesn't understand English nuance or innovation.
Just braindead zombies on here, I swear. It's these kids that don't understand English fully but want to debate??? Get lost.
And I'm sharing my opinion about it too.
Okay, I corrected it.. Do You understand the point now?
