Promo picture Gaia
I do not mind if it is the Titan model, but for the Major God art, can we get the old human looking Gaia?
The plant monster lady looks awfully out of place.

Sorry feller,
We are all about Dendrophiles here, blame Plants versus Zombies for that.

Her Temple and TC statues look like the human woman version, so I hope the MG art does too.

I do not mind that the Titan version is more montruous.

She looks like a plant woman to me in the statues. I guess she has a nose in the last screenshot's temple, but I zoomed it and it seems kinda like both are the same. She does have a huge butt tho, which is an absolute win.

I'd also like a human-like gaia portrait, but oh well.

No take a closer look, she is not human in those statues.
The original had a human in leaf clothing. So smooth skin, exposed legs, exposed collarbone area and arms. Her legs are clearly vines in those statues.

Its a shame. I preferred the human version.

Im gonna be a bit controversial and say i hope this isnt a sign of wokeness. I hope they didnt make her more plantlike because a woman with a modest bust would have been offensive.

I hope the rest of the minor female gods arent that nerfed. Alot of the original AOM goddesses were modestly busty and a bit scantily clad. It fit the era though!
Bast and her cleavage, Sehkmet's open top, Hekate/Theia's bra armor. Sure its unrealistic but its the style for the time.

I HOPE they didnt change that for the sake of wokeness.

I let it go when in an interview for AOE4 they offhandedly felt the need to say Joan of Arc is a "feminist icon". I let it go when in AOE3 they had to remake the indian factions with a market instead of mining and didnt even bother to animate it then they renamed the "colonial" era for wokeness.

I hope they dont over correct for this game too. Please leave the rest of the goddesses alone.

I agree with you, tho the change to a plant isn't unfitting for Gaia. We don't see god portraits or statues of Kronos or Uranos, but on one screenshot, we see a titan model that resembles the Atlantean titan from the Original, with the huge crystals.
They can't just cut Kronos and Uranos as major gods, can they?

We live in an era where it's practically impossible for modern media created by large corporations to not be woke. The best we can hope for is that they tone the woke down and the content quality up enough for it to be bearable. But then again, that might make the propaganda actually effective...

You already know they changed them.
You already know simps will defend [corporation] anyway.

It is called Gaea with respect original wording from Greece.
Today we say Gaia of which means the mother Earth or the iconic deity of sorts representing that philosophical belief.
She is also the mother of most of the then known Solar System, and by Greek mythology different Gods.
It is if studied very similar to that of a kind God/Goddess and of course the Devil in Christianity.
The Devil being represented and unleashed upon Earth is of course 'Tartarus'.
Other earlier and later belief gave us the Tree Of Life.

Sometimes Gaia/Gaea is depicted like any other typical Greek God. Sometimes her description is the entirety of life and of mountains the world ,its all.

Gaia is also the birth of Paganism much later in terms of historical trapping of that belief.

I grew up in England and the phrase 'touch wood' is directly linked to Paganism via Gaia.

The hanging of gifts on that tree of life and the known underlying cult as seen from the Romans and others.
Christianity and the Greek Gaea/Gaia along with Paganism are forever joined at the hip.

So, Gaia can be depicted by whatever artistic representation of the literal Mother Of Earth any artist chooses.

Like with many ancient beliefs there are ambiguous modern day interpretations that still befuddle anyone that tries to make sense of long written script etchings and the spoken word.

In my own mind I see her like a majestic tree standing tall above the rest of the canopy around her.
She travels nowhere for everything came from and indeed returns to Gaia.
Mother Earth.
I do not care about this esoteric answer, nor did I request a wrong mythological interpretation of both Paganism and Christianity.
The plant monster lady looks off near the other gods, even the animal headed egiptian ones.

You have to understand that modern woke developers don't like beautiful woman, they are offensive for them for no reason...

Oh dear, never mind.
You probably wanted words with less than three letters. I do so apologise.
No, I wanted an opinion on the art, which is what I presented. I did not ask for a wrong perspective on religions.

Then I suggest you read it again, perhaps with Dictionary at hand.
You are not that smart, and you are really trying to steer the off topic.

I personally think the new version looks a lot better than the old. Also solves the issue the Athlanteans had, with the portrait of Prometeus as a minor god being just a guy, then in game Prometheus being a clay monster

It solves no issues. The Titans looking like monster on teh battlefield is ok, but looking like monsters on the statues and MG art will make them stand out from the other civ gods, in a negative way.

They would look like they do not belong in the same setting.

They don't need to turn Gaia back into a beautiful woman for me. But Hera, Aphrodite, Athena, Freya. Those I feel like need to be beautiful, as their beauty was a huge influence on classic mythology.
And Athena doesn't look too bad, from what I could see on the new poster art.
