To be fair they seem to be doing a lot of work that I thought wouldn't happen, so I don't mind to pay for something like this. Originally I thought we would only get the OG game with just better graphics and a few quality of life improvements here and there but they have much more planned for this game which I like.
Think Age of Empires DE - nobody cared anymore until they started selling new factions as DLC, the game now has 45 playable factions, compared to 13 the original had and 18 it had after the original Conquerors expansion.
People need new content to keep being invested in the game, but making new content isn't free.
Assuming you do have AoM on Steam already, the value proposition of this is actually really good. The base game costs 30$ - which is a fair price for a remake of an old but popular game, and then you pay 12$ for 2 new pantheons. That's a lot more content for cheaper than AoE DE is getting in their DLC's.
1.what they call now basic game is the original gold edition which included the titans expansion back in the day
2.Expansion 1 is a rework of the chinese DLC we know and love xD
3. Expansion 2 unknown and to be revealed at a later date
