I’m enjoying it.
It’ll get some stability patches, I hope.
Yes. But there will be other people who are maybe put off by instability so they can play then.
I’m taking my time with it because it’s a lovely gaming experience. Is that an allowed opinion?
I haven't had a single crash. I only notice framerate issues sometimes at the storybook, which surprised us. We're wondering if the story books are actually a disguised loading screen for the next chapter and that's what caused the issue. I did accidentally skip part of a chapter's level (#9) which is a bummer for first playthrough, but I know I'm going to play again to at least try to get all the collectibles so that's not a huge issue for me. I guess that's probably something that would excite a speed runner.
If you're excited to play the game because you're interested in the setting, art direction, or music I'd say wait for some updates to iron out issues and go ahead and get it regardless of price. But It's not a game that revolutionizes the action-combat platformer genre, so if you're not excited about it, it's OK to just wait for a sale.
The artstyle looks interesting.. but well.. that is not enough to sell.
Overall price does not matter, as this was developed as a filler game for Gamepass (this is normal with Microsoft games) so you pay a premium, if you don´t wanna rent it.
I feel confident saying that it’s not a game with a lot of joy in its story. It is macabre version of the American south with plenty of fantastical moment and folklore, but also truly multiple situations of trauma suffered by a lot of, if not all (disclaimer I didn’t finish yet), characters in the game.
