Oof...maybe you got a point there..
cmon
I'd buy that for a dollar! and I am not even emoting here.
I think what we are getting with this game for $40 is a massive steal tbh. They could've probably charged $80 for this like Mario Kart and it would still do well. Fantastic game.

The game has regional pricing, and in my case, the premium version cost $22.99. I think it's a good price, though I wouldn't have minded paying $40. So far, I'm really enjoying it.

Steam isn't a reliable metric. And it IS a pretty niche game with its artstyle and dev studio.
Careful, they are deleting threads and comments like all discussions involving SBI (Sweet Baby Inc.) adjacent games. Watch, this thread will get locked just because I mentioned SBI. They just cannot help themselves, they always choose censorship when they cannot own the narrative. They have not yet realized that they cannot "cancel" their lack of sales with censorship, it just loses them good will they might have sold better with in future titles.

True, I did the test and my thread was instantly deleted just for mentioning SBI.

I guess they’re ashamed of the connection, which honestly is a good sign. With shame might come the decision to avoid these consultants in the future.
It is an AA game and development cost was most likely between 40-60m
You can´t sell a game like that for such a low asking price.

They also closed my prediction thread?.. that is rather odd.. It is a positive minded thread where people just have fun while they wait for the game.
I´ve done it on over 100 games (both AAA and AA) the last few years and only two games have had the threads closed. This one and Veilguard.

But the price is what it should be.
Its an AA game and Valve take a 30% cut of the revenue made. Microsoft wants players to sub to Gamepass (whole year round) games like these are fillers to keep people engaged.
I agree the price is too high for the small amount of playtime, I am ok with shorter games but only if the experience is good enough and for me I do not believe this one is worth the price its asking for.

Lenght is not a factor tbh.
It is about the experience you get and that can sometimes be better with 8 hours, than 60 horus of doing fetch quests ie.

I'm happy with it so far having paid early price, played 14h so far on hardest difficulty at a pace where I'm looking for all collectibles (leisurely, not rushing). I can see criticism about repetitive combat - Alice Madness Returns has the same complaint, but A:MR also has the big complaint it's a long slog at 14h. South of Midnight makes me reminisce about Alice:MR in good ways (despite in my opinion nothing in this world comparing to American McGee's art design of the game). Ultimately maybe it's a plus we aren't complaining it's too long.

I wouldn't mind paying $40 for a game whose world, story, and music I'm excited about compared to A:MR that I think was $59.99 at release over a decade ago (I know it's much cheaper now) and other current day games pushing $69.99+. I'm a glutton for sales too though so if someone wants to buy cheaper, get on with your bad self and wait for that sale..
It took me about 12 hours i think?

I died quite a bit tho! Played on highest difficulty (not custom) with NO SKILLZ TREES!

I did get two life extensions tho (6 orbs), combat was pretty tricky in spots but i have a million hours in Zenless Zone Zero so i was able to fight thru the pain! Excellent title.

I feel its the perfect length, similar to Kena Bridge of Spirits.
